Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to M shaped lips.

M-shaped lips are a natural lip shape where the upper lip has a full, prominent center and thinner outer edges, creating a contour that resembles the letter "M". They are also one of the most difficult lips to fill.

The top picture is before any filler.
2nd picture was February after 0.5ml
3rd picture after a further 1ml

Lips are fuller but still look natural. Swelling this evening and tomorrow am will be the worst and then settle from 48 hours

"Medical-grade skincare" gets said a lot. Here's what it actually means. 🀍

We stock AlumierMD at SF Aesthetics, and the difference isn't the packaging.

✨ Active ingredients at levels that are clinically meaningful, formulated to do something, not just to appear on the label.

✨ Formulations built around stability and absorption. How an ingredient gets into your skin matters as much as what it is, and that's the part nobody markets because it isn't glamorous.

✨ Prescribed, not picked. This is the one that changes things. AlumierMD isn't sold off a shelf. Joanne assesses your skin first and builds the routine around what it actually needs.

That last point is where most people end up saving money rather than spending it. A bathroom shelf of half-used bottles costs far more than three products chosen properly.

If your routine has crept up to eight steps and your skin still isn't behaving, come and let Joanne strip it back. Sometimes the answer is fewer, better things.

Let's talk about acne scarring πŸ’¬

First thing I need you to know, because it changes everything: the red and brown marks left behind after a breakout usually aren't scars. That's post-inflammatory pigmentation. It's flat, it's temporary, and it fades, often on its own, faster with the right routine.

Real scarring is textural. You can feel it. Run a finger over it and the skin isn't smooth.

That's where microneedling comes in.

What tends to respond well πŸ‘‡
β€’ Rolling scars - the soft, wavy dips
β€’ Boxcar scars - wider, with sharper edges
β€’ General uneven texture left behind after years of breakouts

What responds less well πŸ‘‡
β€’ Ice pick scars - narrow and deep, these usually need a different approach
β€’ Raised or keloid scarring - microneedling isn't the right treatment here

And the honest bit: microneedling improves acne scarring. It doesn't erase it. Most people see real softening across a course of sessions as collagen rebuilds underneath, but if anyone promises you flawless skin from one appointment, walk away.

One more thing. Your acne needs to be settled before we start. Treating over active breakouts can make things worse, not better.

Come and let me look properly. I'll tell you what's a mark, what's a scar, and what's realistic for your skin.

"Does microneedling hurt?" 😬

Honest answer - and it surprises most people.

Here's exactly what happens:

1️⃣ Numbing cream goes on first and sits for around 20 to 30 minutes. By the time we start, your skin is genuinely numb.

2️⃣ During the treatment, most people describe it as a vibration with a bit of scratching. Not the horror story you've seen on TikTok.

3️⃣ Some areas are more sensitive than others - forehead, hairline and around the nose tend to be the ones people notice most.

4️⃣ Straight after, your skin will look pink, a bit like mild sunburn. That usually settles within 24 hours.

5️⃣ Makeup? Leave it off for 24 hours. Let your skin breathe and heal, it's doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

The honest version: it's not painless, but it's very manageable. If discomfort is the thing that's been stopping you booking, come and talk to me first. No pressure, no obligation.

Microneedling with Joanne, treating pigmentation and uneven tone.

The change here is in the clarity. Patches that were sitting darker have evened out, and the skin looks brighter overall rather than just made-up. That's the skin renewing itself, microneedling triggers the process, your skin does the work over the weeks that follow.

Pigmentation is one of those concerns people try to fix with product alone for years before they get anywhere. Sometimes the routine is the answer. Sometimes it needs a treatment plan behind it. Joanne will tell you which one you're dealing with.

"Joanne, what actually IS microneedling?" πŸ€”

I get asked this every single week, so here's the plain English version.

Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Sounds dramatic, it isn't.

Those tiny channels switch on your skin's natural healing response, which means fresh collagen and elastin. Your skin does the work, we just give it the nudge.

What it's brilliant for:
β€’ Acne scarring and uneven texture
β€’ Enlarged pores
β€’ Fine lines
β€’ Dull, tired-looking skin
β€’ Pigmentation and uneven tone

What it feels like: numbing cream first, then a bit of vibration and scratching. Most people are surprised how manageable it is.

What to expect: results build gradually over a course of sessions rather than overnight. Skin looks a little pink for 24 hours, then glowy.

Not sure if it's right for your skin? That's exactly what a consultation is for, I'll tell you honestly if something else would suit you better.

Skin consultations with Joanne are now open.
