I’ve been house sitting locally and the hot water wasn’t working so I decided to nip home for a shower. As I was getting in the shower I thought I could smell toast but no one else was in the house so I ran around checking plugs as the smell got stronger and stronger etc and then thought maybe it was my hair straighteners ( even though I knew it was not ) and as I entered the bedroom I was faced with a shocking scene
The room was full of smoke and the bottom of the curtain was ON FIRE !
I consider myself ridiculously lucky and Unbelievably blessed to have arrived at that time. If I had chosen arrive even 2 minutes later or even get in the shower I’d be telling a disaster story.

Please NEVER leave your makeup mirror by the window. EVEN in winter EVEN on a cold day The mirror is a deadly fire starter and I’ve had my knuckles well and truly rapped

The planets are aligned TONIGHT. I can only assume that something helped me reach home just in time. Universe I thank you 🙏

It’s HAT weather. It was 5° this morning so I declare it’s time to brush off your old titfer and keep your head warm. Apart from having another item in a wardrobe to play with, wearing a hat can also hide your bad hair day. 🤣Either way if you scrape your hair back or wear a hat your face can look quite bare so a slick of lipgloss a pretty cheek colour and a few coats of mascara will make you look healthy during the cold months

I expect you have all heard of the golden hour. Noted to be a fabulous time of day when everything is golden and flattering but have you heard of L’heure bleue? It’s the blue hour before the sun rises. Ambient colour/ light affects our skin tone and makeup in different ways. I guess unless you are coming home after a v long night or getting up for an early shift , 4.30 am possibly wouldn’t be your best choice to photograph your makeup But here we go
Left to right l’heure bleue. Midday light. Golden hour. False daylight lamp.
You can see how the golden hour really does give you a glow and how the blue hour cools everything down. I think the blue hour would be good for a highland autumn editorial with mauve tartans , heather and misty greens.
