A little educational point, especially if you’re new to aesthetics 👇

The issue wasn’t that these girls weren’t numbed. The issue was that they weren’t given the choice or the information to make an informed decision.

Some practitioners choose not to use topical numbing cream because it can cause temporary swelling in certain areas of the face, so they’ll decide on a case-by-case basis whether to use it.

That being said, for lip filler, I personally believe numbing should almost always be offered. Lips are one of the most sensitive areas to treat, especially if it’s your first time, and making the experience as comfortable as possible should be part of good patient care.

What is important is that your practitioner explains the pros and cons, asks about your pain tolerance, and lets you make an informed decision.

If you’ve just turned 18 or it’s your first treatment, you might not know what to expect, and that’s completely normal. A consultation should leave you feeling informed, comfortable, and able to ask questions before any treatment begins.

Every clinic works slightly differently, but you should never feel like you’re being rushed into treatment without understanding your options. The consultation is just as important as the treatment itself. 🤍
