Shoulder Pain That Won't Go Away? Understanding Rotator Cuff-Related Shoulder Pain — Evolve Osteopathy York 06/10/2026

Shoulder pain that just won't go away?

It can make getting dressed, driving, working and sleeping a struggle. One of the most common causes I see in clinic is rotator cuff-related shoulder pain, especially in people who lift overhead a lot (painters, plasterers, or anyone throwing a ball for the dog).

A few quick tips:
✅ Get your exercises from a qualified professional. Home or gym exercises can sometimes make things worse
✅ Try ice or heat, whichever feels better for you
✅ Look at your posture, especially if you're desk-based

If it's been going on for more than a couple of weeks, it's worth getting checked. And if you've had a fall or injury and can't lift your arm, or the shoulder looks a different shape, go to A&E.

🏃 Marathon training season is here — the Yorkshire Marathon is just weeks away, and if you're eyeing the London Marathon in 2027, training is probably already on your mind.

Running injuries like shin splints, runner's knee and IT band syndrome are common, and they're usually down to the same few things: too much too soon, poor footwear, tight muscles, or biomechanics issues.

The good news? Most of these are preventable.

In my latest blog post I cover what causes running injuries and the simple steps you can take to keep training on track. 👇
