ANY TREATMENTS
A gentle reminder, I will not complete any nail treatment for under 16's for the following reasons...
π My insurance does not cover me for any nail treatments on under 16's.
π Young skin is extremely delicate and sensitive to chemicals and allergen reactions. Gel polish is FULL of harsh chemicals. Your child is more likely to develop a reaction to Acrylates and Methacrylates. These are monomers that harden under light; they are potent contact allergens that can cause severe, permanent skin rashes, contact dermatitis, and nail loosening. Hydroquinone: A stabilizer linked to cellular and genetic allergenicity risks. Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) this is a A plasticizer added to prevent chipping that acts as an endocrine (hormone) disruptor. If children develop an allergy to any of these chemicals (which they are very likely to) they will not be able to have gels even later in life. These reactions are permanent and irreversible and will be life long.
π Extensions (Acrylic & Gel Extensions) are very dangerous. When knocked (which is very likely as kids are kids- they play and forget) When an extension is knocked while children's nails are soft, there is a high chance of matrix damage. The matrix grows the nail and feeds nutrients to the nail. If damage occurs, this is permanent and irreversible. The nail may never grow back, or suffer deformeties such as deep ridges.
π« Nails are NOT for children. Kids should be kids. There are plenty of things that you can do for your children's nails during the holidays without exposing them to potential risks...
- Nail 'extensions' with adhesive sticky tabs- not glue.
- Nail stickers
- Nail stick on gems
- Water based / non toxic regular air dry nail polish.

π½ THE COLD HARD SCIENCE: Why Artificial Nails Do Not Belong on Children π
π½
π1. Physiological Immaturity of the Nail PlatePre-adolescent nails are thin, soft, and naturally high in moisture and lipids. Because of this, acrylic monomers and gel polymers cannot bond correctly. This causes rapid lifting, creating microscopic pockets that trap water and breed severe bacterial infections like Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Green Nail Syndrome).
π§ͺ 2. High Risk of Lifetime Contact SensitizationChildren have a much thinner epidermal barrier. When uncured acrylates touch their skin, they risk developing a Type IV delayed hypersensitivity reaction (contact allergy). Because the medical and dental fields use the exact same polymers, this allergy can permanently bar them from getting composite dental fillings, joint replacements, or diabetes monitoring devices later in life.
π¨ 3. Permanent Growth Matrix DeformityThe prep work for extensions is too aggressive for a childβs soft eponychium. Over-filing, chemical dehydration, or intense thermal burns (heat spikes from UV lamps) can permanently damage the nail matrix. This results in an adult life of nails that grow deformed, split, or ridged.
π₯ 4. Biomechanical Leverage InjuriesExtensions act as a lever. A childβs thin, flexible nail plate cannot support that rigid stress. During normal childhood play, a minor snag transforms into catastrophic force. This leads to horrific nail bed lacerations or traumatic avulsionβwhere the entire natural nail plate is ripped completely from the flesh, often requiring surgical repair.
β The Legal & Insurance RealityBecause of these severe anatomical risks, the vast majority of professional insurance policies strictly forbid and do not cover enhancement services for anyone under the age of 16.Letβs be completely honest: any tech or salon willing to bypass insurance guidelines and perform these service only cares about cash!

Sooo... I have recently had somebody contact me about wanting a model set. Once I told her that the set would be Β£42 (instead of Β£57) she responded with laughing emojis and said 'thanks but no'
Then processed to tell me that she was in the nail industry also, so she sees me as a "colleague" and she cannot accept to come and pay. Baring in mind, this set of nails were an extra long set, nail art and diamantΓ©s.
I'm sorry, but WHAT!? π€―
Just to set the scene. My rent, insurance, food and sometimes transport equates to around Β£50 per day BEFORE I have made any money or cost of materials has come out.
I have been doing nails for 5 years, and within that time I have become a 2 time award winning nail technician and I am hopefully on my way to the 3rd (hence why I was asking for models to put showcase my technical nail skills)
I still have to pay my rent, insurance, products, myself a wage, my buffer fund for when I have to take unexpected time off.. nevermind my bills and personal expenses and further education, training and certifications.
I will always welcome a trade swap (tattoos, nails, piercings, anything van/motorbike related)
