Hey Everyone!
I realised recently I've had a number of new followers the past few months and I've never really introduced myself online for anyone who still might be unsure about booking in.
So here goes...
I'm Mart, I'm 38 years old and I am a self employed barber. I've been working in the hair industry for the past 4 years and I currently work out the Nu Concept salon in town (St. Peter Port)
"What made you want to get into barbering in the first place?"
As someone who is both ADHD and Autistic I often found it difficult find a role that ticked all of the boxes to keep me engaged and focused. I knew I needed something to express my own creativity and barbering was just that! After a few weeks shadowing in a barbershop I was hooked! I enjoy being able to provide a service to others.
"What is your experience in the industry?"
After graduating my barbering exams I worked in a local shop for a couple of years with 5 other barbers. It helped me hone my craft and learn what to do/not to do along the way as well as build a loyal customer base. However, I knew quite quickly that in order to grow and evolve as a barber I needed to seek my own path with the knowledge I had gained so I decided to go solo.
"What is your absolute favorite cut or style to do?"
At the moment its probably a textured burst fade as its fun to build shape amongst the fading process, however, I do enjoy any opportunity I get to do a full scissor cut.
"What can someone expect when they sit down in your chair?"
Reassurance that you're going to leave with what you asked for. I always ensure a thorough consultation is held before we begin so both myself and my client are on the same page with what outcome we are aiming to achieve. I hear I also give good banter too. Aside from that you are treated to a free beverage (alcohol included) and video games for the kids.
"When you’re not holding clippers, what are you usually doing?"
All depends on the day really. I enjoy keeping fit in the gym, singing with my band and gaming in the evenings. I'm also a single father of one so he keeps me entertained too. I often find I get bored quite easily in general so I am often learning some new quirky skill.
"How can people book with you?"
The Fresha app is by far the easiest to book with me, or you can drop into the shop if youre passing. The link should be on my page for booking.
Feeling a bit stagnant? Wanting to freshen things up for the summer? Come and see me and let's level up your look together!
The calendar is starting to fill up now the nicer weather is kicking in! Book in before the seasonal rush!

‼️Maintain Your Tools‼️
Not enough gets posted about this. Barbering is more than just fresh trims and banter with clients. There is an awful lot that goes on behind the scenes before and after the doors close whether that be setting up/wiping down the shop, washing gowns, shop admin and most importantly, maintaining your tools.
I don't just mean a quick drop of oil and a spray of disinfectant. I mean taking your clippers apart and giving them a deep clean, resetting your blade levels and going over the general wear and tear.
I sterilise my tools daily and give them a deep clean once a month. This is just what was hidden after 4 weeks that a quick "brush down" doesn't catch.
Take care of your clientele by taking care of your tools. 👌

Ice-water swimmer got first passport to compete for Guernsey - Bailiwick Express News Guernsey What was your first trip abroad? To all of my valued clients,
I want to start by saying a huge thank you for your continued support in my first year going self-employed! I love what I do, and being able to help you feel better is the best part of my day.
To ensure I can continue providing the high-quality service, professional tools, and premium products you’ve come to expect, I will be implementing a small price increase.
With effect from 1st March 2026, there will be a £2.00 increase across all services.
As many of you know, the costs of professional supplies, tools, and overheads have risen significantly. This small adjustment allows us to keep my doors open and maintain the standards you deserve without compromising on quality.
I value your loyalty immensely and wanted to give you plenty of notice so you can plan your upcoming appointments.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to chat with me during your next visit!
Cheers
Mart
