My mother had a small scar on her chin and a line between her eyebrows that got deeper when she was worried. I could read her before I could read words.
I knew from across a kitchen whether the day was going to be a good one.
That is what a face is for.
Itâs the first language a child learns, and the one they keep trusting long after they stop believing what you tell them. A child watches your face to find out if the world is safe. They are not checking whether you look rested.
And yet the thing being sold hardest to women is a complete opposite.
Smooth, unmoving, unreadable. We are told it is confidence, or self care, or just a little touch up. Applied by a half trained nurse who just finished a two week course on how to do this procedure.
I understand the pull. I have stood in front of a mirror after a bad night and looked at a woman I did not recognise. But the answer to a tired face was never to freeze it.
It was to feed it.
That is where tallow came in for us.
Not as a beauty product.
It was the only thing that helped when nothing else would, and when I looked into why, it made a kind of sense that no serum ever had. Tallow is close to what our own skin makes. Fresh Irish suet, rendered slowly, nothing bleached out of it. Skin recognises it the way a body recognises real food.
My face still moves.
The lines around my eyes are getting deeper and I know exactly which child put each one there. I would rather be legible to them for the next forty years than smooth for the next four months.
I want to be the woman in the photographs, not the one who hid from them.

Most people arenât tired because theyâre under caffeinated. Theyâre tired because their brain has no idea what time it is and their cells have nothing real to burn.
âïž Light is the first signal.
Indoor lighting is 100 to 500 lux.
Outside on an overcast morning itâs 10,000.
Direct sun is 50,000 to 100,000.
Your body canât tell the difference between your kitchen and a dark cave. It can absolutely tell the difference between your kitchen and your front step.
Morning light sets your cortisol pulse at the right time and starts the 14 to 16 hour countdown to melatonin, which is why you actually fall asleep instead of lying there scrolling.
đ„© Food is the second signal.
Your mitochondria donât run on things invented in a lab 80 years ago. They run on what your great-grandparents ate: animals raised on grass, fat that came off an actual animal, eggs, milk that was never stripped and rebuilt, fruit that ripened on the plant, honey that came out of a hive.
Heme iron, retinol, K2, choline, B12. Nutrients in the form your body evolved to recognise.
Seed oils and refined flour give you calories with no information. Fuel and no instructions, so your body keeps asking for more. Thatâs not a willpower problem.
Coffee doesnât create energy.
It blocks the receptor that tells you youâre tired and moves the bill to the afternoon.
Ten minutes outside.
No sunglasses.
Before you touch your phone.
Then eat like your grandparents did and put something on your skin theyâd recognise.
AI is about to make trust the most expensive thing on the internet.
Fake damage photos. Fake reviews. Fake before and afters. In a year or two you wonât be able to believe a single image you see from a brand, or from a customer.
So hereâs my prediction. The businesses that survive wonât be the ones with the best ads. Theyâll be the ones you can actually verify. A real family. A real building in a real town. Real hands making the product. People you could theoretically knock on the door of and say, show me.
Thatâs the whole reason we film inside our own facility. Not because itâs good content. Because itâs proof.
Big corporations canât do this. Thereâs no face to check. No founder to call out. Just a logo and a legal department. Which is exactly why the fakes will hurt them least and the trust will flow to businesses like ours, if we earn it.
Weâve replaced every genuinely broken jar for three years, no questions asked. Still will. Some people will abuse that. Fine. Iâd rather eat the cost of a few scammers than treat 100,000 honest customers like suspects.
Trust is the product now. The balm is just how we deliver it.

This is not a fitness problem. This is an environment problem.
For 300,000 years, men built hormones the same way: animal fat, sunlight, physical work, and food that came from an animal or the ground, not a factory.
Then in the span of ONE lifetime we swapped nearly all of it. We replaced ancestral fats with industrial oil byproducts that were originally used to make soap and machine lubricant. We wrapped every meal in petroleum-derived plastic. We started rubbing chemical cocktails on the largest organ of the body every single morning without asking whatâs in them. And we moved life indoors, away from the sun that regulates our entire endocrine system.
And then we act surprised that men feel like a diluted version of their grandfathers.
Hereâs what nobody in a white coat will tell you: the reference range for ânormalâ testosterone keeps getting revised DOWN. Not because men are fine. Because the average keeps falling, and the average is the reference. We are normalizing decline in real time.
The good news is that none of this is written in your DNA. Your grandfatherâs biology is still inside you. Itâs just buried under 70 years of bad inputs, and inputs can be changed. Every meal, every product, every hour outside is a vote.
Which one of these four do you think does the most damage? I have my answer. Drop yours below đ

Anxiety diagnoses have exploded over the last 30 years.
In that same window we started eating food our great-grandparents wouldnât recognise, stopped lifting anything heavier than a phone, traded sunlight for screens, and replaced the village with an algorithm.
Then we called the result a chemical imbalance and got offered a prescription for it.
Iâm not saying nobody needs help. Some people genuinely do.
Iâm saying that before you accept a label for life, itâs worth asking a simpler question: is my brain broken, or is my brain responding correctly to a broken environment?
An anxious response to an unnatural life isnât a malfunction. Itâs a signal.
I stopped treating the signal and started fixing what it was pointing at. The anxiety didnât need managing after that. It had nothing left to say.
Your body isnât betraying you. Itâs begging you.
your skin is not a surface. itâs an organ.
and like every organ in your body, it needs nutrients to repair itself.
this is where the entire skincare industry gets it wrong. they treat skin like a wall that needs painting. coat it, seal it, make it look shiny for a few hours.
but skin doesnât want to be coated. it wants to be fed.
fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K are the raw materials your skin uses to regenerate tissue. theyâre found in grass-fed tallow in a form your cells recognize instantly, because tallow is nearly identical to the fats already in your skin.
no conversion needed. no barrier to cross. straight in, straight to work.
humans understood this for thousands of years. then somewhere along the way we decided that seed oils, silicones and synthetic emulsifiers were an upgrade over the fat our ancestors used on every wound, every rash, every cracked hand.
they werenât an upgrade. they were a downgrade with better marketing.
feed your skin like the organ it is.

Everything modern life calls an inconvenience, your body reads as home.
Your nervous system was not designed for constant input. It was designed for long stretches of quiet, broken up by real things: fire, weather, faces you recognise. That low hum of anxiety most people carry around? Thatâs not a personality trait. Thatâs an environment problem.
We didnât fully understand this until we left the city. The first few weeks of slower living feel like withdrawal. Then something settles. You sleep deeper. You eat with people instead of near them. You stop reaching for your phone because thereâs an actual life in front of you.
And your skin follows the same logic as the rest of you. Strip away the noise, give it one real thing, and it remembers what to do.
Modern comfort is making people sick, anxious, and disconnected. The âhardâ way was never hard. It was just human.

Let me be very clear about something.
Every food in this graphic was a staple of human nutrition for thousands of years. Then, in the span of a single lifetime, they all became âdangerous.â
Did human biology change?
No.
What changed is that we started letting people who profit from processed food write the nutrition guidelines.
Think about how backwards this is. The most nutrient dense foods on the planet, the ones your body has receptors specifically designed for, come with warnings. Meanwhile the ultra processed products that were invented in a lab 40 years ago sit in the âheart healthyâ aisle with a checkmark on the box.
You cannot patent a ribeye.
You cannot patent sunlight.
There is no money in telling you to eat the way humans have always eaten, and there is an enormous amount of money in convincing you these simple foods are dangerous for you.
But hereâs the part nobody wants to say out loud: the chronic disease epidemic didnât happen while people were eating these foods. It happened after they stopped.
That timeline should bother you a lot more than anything in this picture.
Your great grandparents ate this way and never needed to read an ingredient list and a nutrition score. Their bodies knew exactly what to do with real food, and so does yours.
Fear the food with an ingredient list. Not the food that is the ingredient.
The anti-aging industry needs you to believe your face is a problem.
Thatâs the business model. A 52 year old woman with naturally glowing skin is a threat to it.
So when a customer messaged us saying her beautician keeps complimenting her skin, and that sheâs never touched Botox, never had filler, never done a peel, I want you to understand what that actually is. Itâs not a nice review. Itâs evidence against a multi-billion euro story that women have been sold for decades: that after 40, your skin fails, and the only fix is a needle or a laser.
Nobodyâs skin âfailsâ at 40. Hereâs what actually happens.
You spend 30 years stripping it with surfactants, dehydrating it with alcohol, suffocating it under silicones, and feeding it lab-made compounds it has never once recognised as food. Then, when it finally looks tired, the same industry that sold you the damage sells you the procedure to fix it.
Poison you slowly, then charge you for the antidote. Itâs genuinely brilliant. Itâs also why we started Ancestral Cosmetics.
Your skin doesnât need intervention. It needs raw materials. Grass-fed tallow carries vitamins A, D, E and K in the exact fat-soluble form your skin is built to absorb. The form that drives collagen, elasticity, cell turnover. Plants donât make these vitamins in this form. Plant-based skincare physically cannot give them to you, no matter what the label promises.
Rendered fat from grass-fed Irish cattle. Thatâs it. And now women in their 50s and 60s all over the world are telling us their skin looks better than it did at 35.
They were never broken. They were starved.
Feed your skin what it was designed to receive.

Modern culture has convinced women that beauty is something you buy.
A syringe. A serum. A subscription.
But beauty was never a product. Itâs a signal. It tells the truth about how you live, what you eat, how much sunlight touches your skin, whether your body feels safe enough to soften.
Our great grandmothers didnât have retinol or filler and yet they glowed in a way most women today are chasing with a ten step routine. Because they lived in rhythm. They ate animals, fat and all. They walked. They raised children with their hands and cooked with them too. They let the sun hit their face without fear.
The beauty industry needs you to believe your face is a problem. Your lines, your pores, your hunger, your emotions. All problems, all solvable, for a price.
And it goes deeper than skincare. We hand young women synthetic hormones to flatline the very cycle that builds their glow, then sell them products to fake what their own biology would have given them for free. A womanâs hormones are not an inconvenience to be managed. They are the source of everything the beauty industry is trying to imitate.
Meanwhile the most magnetic women youâve ever met probably do none of it. They eat steak without guilt. They carry babies on their hip. They laugh hard enough to leave a mark. Their beauty isnât preserved, itâs earned, daily, through how they live.
You cannot inject vitality. You cannot cold plunge your way out of a life lived against your biology.
Eat like your ancestors. Move like a human. Love your people hard. Let your face tell the story.
Thatâs the protocol. Itâs free and it works.
