Cold sore? Conjunctivitis? UTI? You may not need to start with the GP. 👀
Through the HSE Common Conditions Service, participating pharmacists can assess a range of common conditions and, where appropriate, prescribe treatment.
That includes cold sores, conjunctivitis, impetigo, shingles, cystitis/UTIs, vaginal thrush, oral thrush and allergic rhinitis.
Eligibility varies depending on the condition, age and individual circumstances, so not everyone will be suitable for treatment through the service.
Did you know your pharmacist could help with all of these?
If you’re unsure whether the service is suitable for you, speak to our pharmacists at Ballybrack Medical Hall. We’re always happy to advise.💜

Just when you thought allergy season was packing up for the year… 👀
Late-summer pollen can still cause problems well into August, and for some people it’s the eyes that really give it away — itching, watering and redness.
If your eyes are taking the brunt of it, Vividrin Preservative-Free Eye Drops are one option for allergy-related eye symptoms and come in convenient single-use doses.
Available in store and online at Ballybrack Medical Hall. 💙
Always read the label and use medicines as directed.

Burning, urgency, constantly needing the loo… a UTI can make itself known very quickly. 😣
One change you may not know about: women aged 16–64 with symptoms of an uncomplicated UTI can now be assessed through the Common Conditions Service at participating pharmacies.
Your pharmacist will talk through your symptoms and, where clinically appropriate, can prescribe treatment — or advise you if another type of medical care is needed.

Holiday over. Stomach still on a different schedule? ✈️😩
Changes in food, meal times, alcohol, fluid intake and your usual routine can all leave digestion feeling a bit out of step when you travel. Constipation, indigestion, heartburn and diarrhoea can feel like they belong in the same “stomach problem” category, but they are not the same thing and may need very different advice.
That’s where your pharmacist can help. Tell us what the symptoms are, how long they have been going on and any medicines you are already taking, and we can guide you towards the most appropriate option or advise when medical review is needed.
