Untreated high blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the leading causes of kidney failure.

High blood pressure can damage the tiny blood vessels (glomeruli) in the kidneys over time.
When this happens, the kidneys cannot filter waste and excess fluid effectively.
Waste products build up in the blood and kidney function gradually declines, which can eventually lead to chronic kidney disease (CKD) or kidney failure if not treated.

To everyone living with high blood pressure, please don't take your health for granted.
Check your blood pressure regularly, take your medications as prescribed, maintain a healthy weight, eat a balanced diet, stay physically active, and keep your medical appointments.

Prevention is always better than cure.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and take good care of yourself. ❤️
When last did you check your BP?

This week, walk into your new beginning with confidence.
Let go of what drained you.
Release what hurt you.
Embrace what grows you.
And trust that God is already ahead of you, preparing doors you haven’t even imagined.

Your new beginning is not coming — it has already started.
Have a beautiful Sunday, Fam❤️❤️❤️

Documenting and sharing my Nursing school journey here with you all....Sit back and enjoy the ride....Have a good evening!!!

Photos from Nurse Amaka's post 03/08/2026

On this day one year ago, I walked into my nursing school for the very first time — these pictures were taken on that exact day.

I came in with fear, doubt, and about ten thousand questions.

Starting nursing at 40? As a matured student? And with zero science background from secondary school?
My mind was doing press‑ups!!!

Before I got the admission, I wrote the aptitude test while heavily pregnant. I wasn’t sure I’d pass — in fact, I was already preparing myself for “maybe next year.”
But God said, “Stand up, you’re going in.”

I got offered a place in the first round, and I accepted with joy and small disbelief 😅

Fast‑forward one year later... I have completed Year 1.

I survived the lectures, the placements, the exams, the late nights, the early mornings — and I’m genuinely proud of myself.

Starting this journey at 40 was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

If I can do it — with kids, work, fear, and zero science background — you can do it too.
Age is not a barrier.
Background is not a barrier.
Your mind is the only barrier, and you can overcome that.

And let me add this part because it matters:
On my first day, I met four amazing women — Rebecca, Angelika, Funke, and Nikki — and one year later, we’re still friends 🥰🥰🥲
Community matters.
Support matters.
And nursing has given me both.

Here’s to Year 2, growth, courage, and proving to yourself that it’s never too late to start.

When I got my 2week placement posting and saw 'Paediatrics', my heart did a small backflip.

Not because I don’t like kids oh — but because I know myself.

One cute baby smile and next thing I’m Googling baby names and craving pregnancy cravings I didn’t ask for😀

So I told myself, “Chiamaka, behave! Face your nursing. No baby fever on this innocent placement.”

Fast‑forward to Day 1 on the ward.

I walked in, trying to act professional, meanwhile one tiny human was already smiling at me like, “Aunty, come and carry me.”

I pretended not to see him. Focus, girl. Focus!

Then my associate preceptor asked me casually,
“So, do you have kids?”

I said, “Yes, I have 3.”

She smiled and said, “Ah, I have 5.”

Five.
FIVE.

Before I could even process it, she added,
“I kept seeing cute babies every day… and their smiles kept getting me pregnant hehehehehe.”

In my mind, I jumped, passed, somersaulted, and immediately started praying: “God, abeg, see me through this placement. No temptation. No baby fever. No extra baby. You guys won't see me.”

Because nursing school is already fighting me left, right, and centre —Add another baby on top?
Absolutely not!

The way I was looking at those babies👇👇👇
