Hurr ibn Yazid al-Riyahi was originally a commander in the army sent by Yazid to intercept Imam Hussain (AS) on his journey to Kufa. Hurr and his soldiers stopped Imam Hussain's caravan and prevented them from continuing their intended route.

As the events leading to the Battle of Karbala unfolded, Hurr witnessed the injustice being done to Imam Hussain and his family. He became deeply troubled and realized that he had made the wrong choice by standing against the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

On the day of Ashura, Hurr repented sincerely, left Yazid's army, and rode towards Imam Hussain's camp. He asked for forgiveness, and Imam Hussain (AS) warmly accepted his repentance. Hurr then fought bravely alongside Imam Hussain and was martyred in the Battle of Karbala.

Hurr's story is remembered as a powerful example of courage, repentance, and choosing the truth even at the last moment.
