Surya Arghya — A Daily Reset for Body, Mind & Soul
Surya Arghya is not a ritual or belief-based practice.
It is a time-tested method of aligning the human system with light and time.
When done at sunrise, with awareness and correct posture, it supports: • nervous system regulation
• circadian rhythm balance
• hormonal synchronisation
• mental clarity and emotional stability
Water, light, posture and presence — used together — act as preventive hygiene for the mind–body system.
This is how our ancestors preserved health before disease appeared.

Mauni Amavasya is not symbolism.
It is neurobiology aligned with yogic wisdom.
On Amavasya, the Moon is absent.
The mind, governed by lunar rhythms, naturally becomes quieter.
Silence (Maun) reduces sensory input.
Reduced input calms the limbic system.
Calm limbic system allows the prefrontal cortex to regain balance.
That is why the ancients prescribed:
Silence
Fasting
Cold-water immersion
Cold exposure activates the vagus nerve,
lowers inflammatory markers,
and forces the mind into the present moment.
Yogic science called this Pratyahara.
Modern science calls it nervous system reset.
Different languages.
Same truth.
Today, practice Maun —
not as a ritual,
but as self-regulation.
Because healing begins when stimulation ends.

That means:
The Amavasya tithi itself begins shortly after midnight on 18 Jan.
It continues through most of 18 Jan and ends early morning on 19 Jan.

📌 Traditionally, the main observance, silence (Maun), snān (holy bath), prayers and charity are done on January 18, 2026, because that is the fully qualifying day when the Amavasya is present for the majority of daylight and ritual time.

People believe that bathing in the Ganga washes away sins.
That explanation is symbolic — not literal.
Ancient yogic science observed something far deeper:
Prāṇa — the primary life energy — is highest where water flows violently.
Fast-moving, cold, oxygen-rich water creates a powerful stimulus to the body.
This sudden shock: • activates the nervous system
• silences habitual thought patterns
• forces the mind into the present moment
In that state, awareness rises.
That is why millions bathe — not out of blind belief,
but because it energizes the system and stills the mind.
This is meditation through the body,
understood by our ancestors long before modern neuroscience.
Sanatan traditions were experiential sciences, not superstition.
