Hanumanasana, also known as the monkey pose, is a yoga posture that requires a deep stretch in the hamstrings and hips. It is named after Hanuman, the Hindu deity who is often depicted as a monkey.

To perform hanumanasana, start in a low lunge with your right foot forward and your left knee on the ground. Slowly slide your left leg back, straightening it as much as possible while keeping your hips square. Flex your right foot and engage your quadriceps to protect your knee. As you exhale, lower your torso towards your right leg, keeping your spine long and your chest lifted. You can use blocks or blankets under your hands for support.

Hanumanasana requires patience and practice to achieve, as it is a deep stretch that can be challenging for many people. It is important to listen to your body and not push too hard, as this can lead to injury. Regular practice of hanumanasana can help improve flexibility in the hips and hamstrings, as well as strengthen the legs and core.

In addition to its physical benefits, hanumanasana is also said to have emotional and spiritual benefits. It is believed to help release tension and stress from the body, as well as cultivate a sense of humility and devotion.
