CHINAR CORPS CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA WITH ZEAL, HARMONY AND COLLECTIVE SPIRIT

Srinagar, 21 Jun 2026 : The Chinar Corps of Indian Army celebrated the
12th International Day of Yoga with remarkable enthusiasm and widespread participation on
21 June 2026. The commemorative events, organised by the Chinar Corps in collaboration with local communities, witnessed an overwhelming response, underscoring the growing embrace of yoga as a transformative way of life.

Yoga sessions were conducted across the Valley where Army personnel and local residents assembled in large numbers to partake in a collective pursuit of physical vitality and mental equilibrium. Expert yoga instructors guided the participants through a series of asanas and breathing exercises while elaborating on the profound physical, psychological and emotional benefits of regular yoga practice. The programme featured a vibrant display of yoga postures, interactive awareness sessions and motivational talks centred around this year's theme,

“Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Participants were encouraged to adopt yoga as an integral component of a balanced and health-conscious lifestyle.

Observed annually on 21 June, the International Day of Yoga seeks to foster global awareness regarding the manifold benefits of yoga and its role in nurturing a healthier, more harmonious society. The spirited celebrations across the Valley not only highlighted yoga's universal appeal but also reaffirmed its enduring relevance as a bridge between communities, cultures and generations.

The enthusiastic participation of both the Indian Army and local residents transformed the occasion into a vibrant celebration of health, harmony and human connectedness, reflecting the collective aspiration for a stronger, healthier, and more united nation.

Organises Volleyball Match to Mark 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel*

June 19``````To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Pulwama Police today organised a Volleyball Match at Government High School Lassipora under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27.

The match was played between Achan Volleyball Club and Panjran Volleyball Club, with Panjran Volleyball Club emerging victorious and receiving a trophy along with a cash prize of ₹3,000. Achan Volleyball Club secured the runners-up position and was awarded a trophy and ₹2,000. The Player of the Match was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of ₹1,000 for his outstanding performance.

The event was attended by officers of Pulwama Police, besides the Principal, staff members and students of Government High School Lassipora. Speaking on the occasion, the police officers highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among youth. They appreciated the players for their sportsmanship and encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities.

Pulwama Police reiterated its commitment to promoting sports and positive youth engagement through community-oriented initiatives under CAP 2026-27.
