It breaks my heart that the aesthetics industry has a marketing problem, and it’s costing patients more than they know.
Every few years, a machine comes out backed by real research, real science, real years of work. And then what follows isn’t innovation. It’s imitation. A slight tweak, a new name, a fancier box. The actual technology barely moves.
What does move fast? The marketing. A celebrity gets a treatment, a clip goes viral, and suddenly patients are walking into clinics asking for that machine not even knowing the technology… not because they need it, not because they understand what it does, but because someone on a red carpet did it.
And here’s what nobody talks about: doctors then feel pressured to invest lakhs into “the next big thing” to keep up with demand that was manufactured by smart businessmen, and not really a medical innovation.
So who actually pays for all of this?
The patient.
Often for a treatment they never needed in the first place.
Keeping up with the trend is not really medical, it’s more fashion. It’s more makeup. The harder question is, is this actually good science, a step ahead towards better clinical outcomes or patient care, or is it just a good marketing that’ll fade and change as quickly as the colour of the season?
