As per the direction issued by Hon’ble Guardian Minister Shri Krishnendu Paul, a Joint Task Force comprising Police, Enforcement, Forest and Excise personnel was constituted to check overloaded vehicles causing damage to roads and bridges across Cachar district.

On 13th July 2026, District Commissioner, Cachar, Shri Rahul Kumar Gupta, IAS, reviewed the Task Force’s functioning along with Addl. District Commissioner Smt. Jagriti Kalwar, ACS, Asstt. District Commissioner, Cachar, Shri Piyush Raj, IAS; Circle Officer, Silchar Sadar, Shri Arnab Baruah, ALRS; District Transport Officer Shri Angikar Borgohain, and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, senior officials presented status reports and raised concerns about certain problems and shortcomings which, if addressed, would enable better and more expeditious real‑time data sharing between departments.

DC, Cachar, directed all concerned to maintain strict vigilance, strengthen inter‑departmental coordination, and continue firm action against defaulters. He imphasied that passage of overloaded vehicles should be stopped at any cost to protect public infrastructure.

Public cooperation remains essential to preserve our roads and bridges.

অতিবৃষ্টির কারণে শিলচর ক্যাপিটাল পয়েন্ট থেকে রঙ্গিরখাড়ি পর্যন্ত সড়কটি জীর্ণশীর্ণ ও যাতায়াতের পক্ষে বিপজ্জনক হয়ে পড়েছিল। এনএইচআইডিসিএল-এর উদ্যোগে সড়কটি মেরামতি ও সংস্কারের কাজ এখন দ্রুতগতিতে এগিয়ে চলেছে।

ইতিমধ্যে প্রায় ১৯০ মিটার সড়ক পুনর্নির্মিত হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে ভাওয়াল পয়েন্টের কাছে ও ইন্ডিয়ান ব্যাংক সংলগ্ন অংশ থেকে রাঙ্গিরখাড়ি পয়েন্ট পর্যন্ত ৭০ মিটার এবং উকিল পট্টির সম্মুখভাগের ১২০ মিটার অংশ রয়েছে। আবহাওয়া কিছুটা অনুকূল থাকলে বাকি কাজ অতি শীঘ্রই শেষ হবে বলে আশা করা যাচ্ছে।

১১ই জুলাই ২০২৬ রাতে (রাত ১১টা থেকে ভোর ৫টা পর্যন্ত) ১০০ মিটার পেভার ব্লক বসানোর কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। সর্বমোট ১৫০০ মিটার কাজের পরিধির নিরিখে বর্তমানে সমন্বিত ভৌত অগ্রগতির হার ১২.৬৭ শতাংশ। কাজ দ্রুত শেষ করার লক্ষ্যে ২৮,২০০টি পেভার ব্লক, দুটি রোলার, একটি গ্রেডার, দুটি জেসিবি ও আটটি ডাম্পার মোতায়েন করা হয়েছে। ১২ই জুলাই ২০২৬ রাতের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নির্ধারিত হয়েছে আরও ১০০ মিটার অগ্রগতি।

বৃহত্তর জনস্বার্থে এই পুনর্নির্মাণ পর্বে কাছাড় জেলা প্রশাসন জনসাধারণের অব্যাহত সহায়তা ও সহযোগিতা কামনা করছে।

Due to heavy rainfall, the stretch of road from Silchar Capital Point to Rangirkhari had fallen into a very poor condition. Reconstruction work through NHIDCL is now progressing steadily.

Approximately 190 metres of the road have already been rebuilt. This includes a 70-metre section near Bhowal Point and the Indian Bank stretch towards Rangikhari Point, and a 120-metre section in front of Ukil Patty. The remaining work will be completed very shortly, after which the transport system will be fully restored.

During the night of 11th July 2026 (11 PM to 5 AM), 100 metres of paver block work was carried out. Cumulative physical progress now stands at 12.67 per cent of the total scope of 1500 metres. The work has been supported by the deployment of 28,200 paver blocks, two rollers, one grader, two JCBs and eight dumpers. The target for the night of 12th July 2026 is 100 metres of further progress.

The District Administration, Cachar seeks the continued co-operation of the general public during this period of reconstruction.
