Today is the World Elders' Day!.
At My True Care, we believe our elders deserve more than routine treatment. They deserve care that understands the unique challenges of ageing.
As we grow older:
• The body responds differently to illness and treatment.
• Multiple health conditions often exist together.
• Medications can become more complex.
• Emotional, psychological and functional wellbeing become equally important.
That is why Geriatric Care matters; specialised, compassionate and comprehensive care designed specifically for older adults.
In Kashmir, dedicated geriatric care is still a relatively new and uncommon approach. Traditionally, many elderly patients may find themselves consulting multiple specialists for different health concerns. We believe there is a better way; bringing focused, coordinated and holistic care for older adults under one roof.
In this reel, Dr. Asma Rafi, Consultant Geriatrics at My True Care, shares why elderly patients require specialised care and why geriatric medicine is different from routine adult healthcare.
Because ageing deserves to be understood, not simply treated.

Could avoiding dementia begin with managing midlife better?
Age and genetics play a role, but so can the way we live; our habits, lifestyle, physical health, and mental well-being can all influence brain health over time.
Dementia isn’t simply a consequence of ageing, and looking after your health in midlife may be one of the ways to help protect your brain for the future. Because taking care of your brain may begin long before memory problems appear.
Watch this video with renowned Neurologist Dr. Sushil Razdan, as we explore dementia, its risk factors and what we can do about them.
This World Lung Day, let’s talk about something especially important for Kashmir. 🫁
As we prepare for the colder months, our lungs face a different set of challenges; from smoking and lung cancer risk to poor ventilation, winter infections like flu, and reduced physical activity.
A few simple habits can make a meaningful difference:
- Avoid smoking; and don’t dismiss the risk because you know someone who smoked and lived long.
- Ventilate your homes, keeping windows completely closed throughout winter can mean poor indoor air quality.
- Protect yourself from flu; vaccination and basic precautions can help reduce the risk of respiratory illness.
- Stay physically active; cold weather is not a reason to become completely sedentary. Find safe ways to keep moving.
For Kashmiris, winter is a beautiful season, but winter preparedness should also include lung health.
This World Lung Day, take care of the lungs that carry you through every season. Share this with your family, especially your elders.
Always tired? Feeling weak, foggy, or achy without knowing why?
We often dismiss fatigue, lethargy, brain fog and persistent body aches as “just weakness,” the weather, stress, age, or simply being overworked. But what if there’s more to it?
These seemingly vague symptoms can sometimes be the body’s way of signalling an underlying problem, from infections and nutritional deficiencies to autoimmune, metabolic or other medical conditions. And this is particularly common among people who keep experiencing these symptoms without a clear explanation.
In this extended version of our conversation, Dr. Dawood, Consultant in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology & Geriatrics, explains the science behind fatigue, weakness, brain fog and body aches, what can cause them, and when these symptoms deserve proper medical evaluation.
Because feeling tired all the time shouldn't always be something we simply learn to live with.
Don’t normalize unexplained symptoms. Understand them. Get clarity. Get care.

UTIs are common, but recurrent UTIs should never be taken lightly.
They can affect women, men, children, and the elderly, and repeated infections may sometimes point to an underlying problem that needs to be investigated.
A few important reminders:
• Don’t ignore recurrent UTIs.
• In children, holding urine for long periods can contribute to urinary problems.
• UTIs in men and elderly patients may need closer evaluation.
• Don’t start antibiotics without proper evaluation.
• Repeated or unnecessary antibiotic use can lead to resistance and make future infections harder to treat.
The right approach is simple: investigate the cause, treat appropriately, and avoid unnecessary antibiotics.
Watch the reel as our doctor explains the symptoms, risk factors, and why recurrent UTIs deserve proper evaluation.
Exercise & Diabetes: Are You Doing It Right?
When it comes to diabetes management, exercise isn’t only about long workouts or spending hours at the gym. Sometimes, small movements at the right time can make a meaningful difference.
One simple habit worth building: take a light walk or do some gentle activity after your meals.
Our Consultant Diabetologist, Dr. Mehmood, explains the right way to incorporate exercise into your routine for better diabetes control, and why moving after meals can be especially helpful.
