Thank you to Trix Eastwood .sleep.yogi and Kathy Kemp .kemp.tropic for hosting a fabulous Sleep Rituals event last night at Healthhaus.
We started by sampling the range of magnesium and lavender based products by Tropic (the So Sleepy balm is our favourite!) while Kathy shared some of the health benefits of using the products regularly.
Trix gave an insightful and entertaining talk about creating the most effective wind down routine before bed and how certain activities can help or hinder how well we sleep.
Trix also taught a short yoga and stretch based session in our Mind Body studio to teach our participants some simple movements that can be done in just a few minutes, without any knowledge of yoga and even in your bed!
Key takeaways from the talk included:
📺 TV is ok in the evenings - but choose comedy over crime!
📱 Mobile phones in the bedroom are not always bad, especially if your nervous system feels safer having it nearby (e.g. teenage drivers coming home late or elderly parents needing to get in touch). But ideally use the ‘night shift’ mode, a red-based filter and choose long form content (podcasts, meditations) over scrolling!
☀️ Morning sunlight (even on a cloudy day) for 5-15 minutes plays a huge role in your body’s natural rhythms. Better sleep starts before breakfast!

A NEW fun and energetic core-based class is coming this July with Magda!
Standing Core Melt is a low-impact, high energy workout focused on your core while staying on your feet.
Unlike traditional floor-based core workouts, this class uses standing movements, such as twists, squats, punches and controlled cardio combinations to engage the entire core.
The class is suitable for all fitness levels and is ideal for people who want an effective core workout without getting down on the floor.
Participants can expect increased core strength and a calorie-burning session that leaves the midsection feeling challenged and energised.
Standing Core Melt includes:
- A full-body workout strongly focused on the waistline
- Standing and dynamic core exercises
- Low-impact movements
- Cardio-inspired intervals that help increase heart rate and support calorie burning

🏋️♀️ A brilliant NEW CLASS from Friday 3 July with instructor Ben Wolstenholme.
Big Three Foundations is a beginner-friendly strength and conditioning class focused on learning the fundamentals of the three core power movements: squat, bench press and deadlift.
Designed for all fitness levels, the class combines technique coaching, mobility and supporting strength work in a circuit-style format to help participants build confidence, improve movement quality and develop full-body strength safely.
Each session includes guided instruction on lifting mechanics, posture, breathing and control, alongside exercises targeting key supporting muscle groups: the glutes, back, shoulders, core and hamstrings.
Participants will rotate through a series of stations, with one dedicated barbell station allowing hands-on practice of the main lift under coaching supervision.
The class aims to create a supportive and motivating environment where beginners can learn proper lifting technique, reduce injury risk and build a strong foundation for long-term strength training.
Please note: Exercises can be modified to suit different fitness levels and abilities. Technique and safe movement will always take priority over lifting heavy weight.
All Healthhaus classes are open to members and non-members.

Including dance tracks from the 90s and 2000s and hand held glow sticks, this class is the perfect mid week energiser! 💃 🎵
After the success of the Clubbercise®️ class we held on National Fitness Day last September, we are delighted that Sophie will be teaching Clubbercise at Healthhaus every Wednesday at 5:30pm from 1 July.
If your ‘clubbing’ days are behind you but you really miss the energy of dancing to loud music in a dark room with a bunch of smiling, happy people, this is your chance….
Class bookings will open during the last week of June, so pop a note in your diary and come and join the fun!

Our recent member class survey showed an overwhelming desire for more classes on weekend mornings - so, we are pleased to announce a brand new FitBall class with Karolina on Saturdays at 10:45am from 4 July.

Our brilliant team member and parkrun devotee Alex was honoured to hold the custom-designed Jersey ‘King’s Baton Relay’ baton at parkrun at Les Quennevais this weekend.
The baton’s visit was part of a larger island tour leading up to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
We’re looking forward to watching and supporting Team Jersey athletes at the Games this summer.

All classes are 45 minutes.
Classes are open to members and non-members.

Kicking off our new Class Timetable from Wednesday 1 July is Paul with BoxFit at 6:15am (45mins). 🥊
BoxFit is a circuit based class using boxing bags and pad work designed to push your fitness, strength and stamina to the next level.
No boxing experience is needed but you must be free of injury (especially in hands and wrists).
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel and a water bottle. Gloves are provided but you must wear boxing glove liners which can be purchased at Reception.
Please ensure you are ready for the class at least 5 minutes before the start time. Members on a waiting list may be given your spot if you don’t arrive in time.
Price £10 per class (members) and £15 per class (non-members).
Class Bundles will be available to buy from 1 July to give you discounts on block bookings.
We hope to see you in one of our new or existing classes very soon!
