In a typical summer, Bluefields Bay area would be blessed with an abundance of mangoes and other fruits. This year, however, Hurricane Melissa changed that reality, leaving many fruit trees damaged and our harvest much smaller than usual.

This thoughtful gift reminds us that when one community faces hardship, another can help lift it up.

At Bluefields Organic Farm, we continue to rebuild, replant, and recover—one season, one harvest, and one act of kindness at a time.

8 Months After Hurricane Melissa...

One banana tree survived the storm at Bluefields Organic Farm and is now bearing fruit. A beautiful sign that life can flourish again.

However, just a few miles away in Retrieve, Westmoreland, zinc sheets are still wrapped around power lines eight months later.

Two images.Two reminders. One story of hope and unfinished recovery.

Give Thanks For Life is more than a book about a hurricane. It is a story of resilience, gratitude, and rebuilding.

Some People Come Into Your Life for a Lifetime!
It is often said that people come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.

Today's spotlight is on one of those rare individuals who belongs in the lifetime category Marjorie Leyden Kirton. For many years, Marjorie has been a pillar of strength within the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission and a valued friend whose support has touched our lives in meaningful ways.

In my first book, From Homelessness To A Healing Haven, I dedicated part of Chapter 8, "Open Doors and Destiny Helpers," to recognizing individuals whose encouragement and support helped shape our journey.
Marjorie was one of those people.

Not only was she present at my first book launch in 2024, but she also graciously served as Master of Ceremonies, helping to make the occasion truly memorable.

So it came as no surprise when she informed me that she would be attending the Miss Westmoreland Festival Queen Coronation and wanted to stop by the farm for her first visit since Hurricane Melissa.

True to her word, Marjorie arrived yesterday, accompanied by her friend Sher from Llandilo, Westmoreland. Together they experienced what many visitors now come to witness: Resilience in Action at Bluefields Organic Farm

Their visit included: A guided farm tour, a taste of Bluefields Organic Honey, meeting the author, securing signed copies of 'Give Thanks For Life' and for Sher, a signed copy of 'From Homelessness To A Healing Haven'

As I often say:
📖 One book tells how the dream was built.
📖 The other tells how the dream survived the storm.

Moments like these remind us that while buildings may be damaged and trees may fall, relationships built on kindness, encouragement and genuine friendship continue to stand strong.
