Women's Empowerment & Opportunity Fair 2026
Today, I had the privilege of attending the Women's Empowerment & Opportunity Fair, held at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre. The event was organized by the Social Development Commission (SDC) in association with Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, OJ, CD, MP, and His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Richard Vernon.
Special recognition also goes to Ms. Stacy Silvera, Acting Parish Manager, Social Development Commission (SDC), St. James, for her leadership and contribution to the success of this empowering initiative.
I was honored to attend on behalf of my companies, Heaven's Luxury Boutique & Skincare and Lapis Lazuli PARADIS Spa & Mobile Unit, taking the opportunity to network, learn, and engage with the many organizations in attendance.
The day's proceedings were professionally hosted by Mr. Travoy Brown, JP, Community Liaison Officer, St. James SDC. The event was coordinated by Mr. Warren Morle, Community Liaison Officer, St. James SDC. The entertainment was beautifully presented by Miss Nicole Bogle, whose outstanding vocal performance added a warm and uplifting atmosphere to the event.

Throughout the day, I visited several booths and had the opportunity to speak with Dante and his colleagues from PICA, where I asked questions and received valuable information. I also visited booths of the following, Attorney Tameika Bryce, Scotiabank, JPS, Digicel, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ), VM Group, NCB, HEART/NSTA Trust, Sandals Resorts, MBJ Airports Limited, the St. James Municipal Corporation, the National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA), Unicomer, Western Regional Health Authority, Health checks, National Youth Parliament of Jamaica, and several other participating organizations.

On Saturday, I had the privilege of delivering the eulogy on behalf of my grandmother, Pearleta Stewart Eccleston, as we celebrated the life and legacy of our beloved Great-Grand, Mrs. Selena Elizabeth Stewart.

Standing beside me is my cousin, Dionne Eccleston, who is also one of my son Migel Roach's godmothers. Together with family, friends, neighbours, church family, and loved ones from near and far, we gathered to honour an extraordinary woman whose faith, strength, love, and kindness have left an enduring legacy.

Although we mourn her passing, we are grateful for the precious memories she gave us and the generations she inspired. Her legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.

Rest peacefully, Great-Grand. You will always be deeply loved, fondly remembered, and forever missed.
