FEELING HOPELESS? THERE IS HOPE. β€οΈππΎ
There was a time when I weighed 365 pounds and even the simplest things in life were a struggle.
Tying my shoelaces, crossing my legs, climbing stairs, travelling without a seatbelt extender, and even getting a good night's sleep.
But the hardest part wasn't physical. It was feeling HOPELESS, knowing I needed change but not knowing where to begin.
Today, my life is very different, and I'm grateful for how far I've come.
I DIDN'T JUST LOSE WEIGHT. I GOT MY LIFE BACK! β€οΈ
If you're struggling today, please don't give up on yourself.
THERE IS HOPE. YOUR STORY IS NOT OVER. πͺπΎ

π¨ BREAKING NEWS FROM THE JPEA! π―π²π·π
Ladies and gentlemen, WE HAVE PROGRESS!
After my recent campaign against jerk centres cutting the fat off a we pork, today I stopped at Scotchies Jerk Center for lunch.
And naturally, as the self-appointed President of the Jamaica Pork Eaters Association β JPEA β I had ONE very important request:
PLEASEβ¦ LEAVE THE FAT ON MI PORK! πππ
And dem LISTEN!
Look at the pork! ππ₯
Nice jerk pork.
Beautiful pieces of fat.
Skin.
Meat.
Everything together.
THIS is what I'm talking about! π
Don't decide for me that I don't want the fat.
Don't trim it all off because somebody somewhere decided that lean automatically means βbetter.β
Give me the pork the way it comes and LET ME decide what I want to eat!
And today, Scotchies understood the assignment. πππΎ
So on behalf of the entire membership of the Jamaica Pork Eaters Association β which, at this point, may still just be me π β I would like to officially recognize Scotchies for their cooperation with the movement.
THE PROTEST HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED! πππ
Remember, this whole JPEA thing is tongue-in-cheek, but my food preference is very real:
KEEP THE FAT ON MI PORK! π·π₯
And if you don't want yoursβ¦
SEND IT COME! πππ

YOUβVE GOT TO BE COMFORTABLE BEING WEIRD.
One thing I've learned in life is that if you're trying to achieve something different, sometimes you're going to have to be willing to LOOK different.
And people are going to talk. π
Nobody had much to say when you were eating pizza, buns, bread, dumplings, cornmeal porridge and all the other foods everybody considers βnormal.β
But change the way you eat and suddenly everybody becomes a nutritionist. π
Start eating differently.
Start prioritizing your health.
Start saying no to foods you used to eat.
Now you're βweird.β
But it doesn't stop with food.
Drive your old PAID-OFF car while everybody else is taking out massive car loans for the newest model?
You're weird.
Decide you'd rather SAVE and INVEST your money instead of spending everything you earn trying to impress people?
Weird.
Cut back on partying and going out because you'd rather invest that time and money into your EDUCATION, your BUSINESS or learning a new skill that could make you more valuable in the marketplace?
Very weird. π
Start exercising while everybody else is sleeping?
Weird.
Say no when everybody else is saying yes?
Weird.
Choose discipline today because you're thinking about where you want to be five or ten years from now?
WEIRD.
But here's the thing...
If you want a different result, sometimes you have to be willing to make different decisions.
You cannot allow social pressure, peer pressure or the fear of looking different to determine the direction of your life.
Everybody doesn't have to understand what you're doing.
YOU need to understand WHY you're doing it.
Whether it's your health, your finances, your education, your business or your future β stay focused on the destination.
Sometimes discipline looks weird.
Saving money looks weird.
Investing looks weird.
Taking care of your health looks weird.
Delayed gratification looks weird.
Working on yourself while everybody else is partying looks weird.
BE COMFORTABLE WITH IT.
Because sometimes the crowd is heading in a direction you don't want to go.
You don't have to follow them.
YOUβVE GOT TO BE COMFORTABLE BEING WEIRD.
WEIRD = SUCCESS. πͺοΏ½
ARE YOU DIABETIC AND DON'T KNOW IT? π€
A lot of people can be living with Type 2 diabetes for some time before they realize something is wrong.
Your body may be giving you warning signs.
Some possible signs can include:
π½ Frequent urination
π₯€ Being unusually thirsty
π½οΈ Feeling unusually hungry
π Blurry vision
β οΈ Frequent yeast infections
π» Changes in bladder control
β€οΈ Sexual problems, including erectile difficulties
But here's the IMPORTANT part:
Having one or more of these symptoms does NOT automatically mean you have diabetes. These symptoms can have many different causes.
DON'T GUESS. GET TESTED.
A blood sugar test and/or HbA1c can help determine whether your blood sugar is in the normal, prediabetes or diabetes range.
And even if you feel perfectly fine, that doesn't necessarily mean everything is fine. Type 2 diabetes can develop gradually and some people have few or no noticeable symptoms.
Know your numbers. Know your body. β€οΈ

π¨ OFFICIAL JPEA ANNOUNCEMENT! π―π²π·π
The Jamaica Pork Eaters Association has had ENOUGH!
We are officially protesting against jerk centres weh keep cutting the fat and skin off a we pork! π©π
All jokes aside, pork is much more than something that tastes good.
When I look at food these days, one of the questions I ask is: WHAT NUTRITION AM I ACTUALLY GETTING FROM THIS?
Pork provides:
π₯© Complete protein β including all 9 essential amino acids
β‘ Thiamin (Vitamin B1) β pork is particularly rich in this
π§ Vitamins B6 & B12
π‘οΈ Selenium
πͺ Zinc
𦴠Phosphorus
π©Έ Iron
π₯ Fat β an important source of energy and fatty acids
π₯ Skin & connective tissue β collagen-rich protein and amino acids such as glycine and proline
And yes, FAT is part of the nutritional conversation too.
Dietary fat provides energy, supplies fatty acids and helps the body absorb the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.
For me personally, eating a carnivore diet with very little carbohydrate, animal fat is deliberately an important part of how I eat and fuel myself.
So when you cut every piece of fat and skin off my pork, you're not just removing FLAVOUR β you're removing part of the nutritional package that I actually WANT! π
Give me the pork.
Give me the skin.
Give me the fat.
And let ME decide what I want to eat! ππ·π₯
Signed,
The Self-Appointed President

DIFFERENT DISEASES. SAME FOUNDATION? π€
Sometimes we spend so much time looking at the individual problems that we never stop to ask:
WHAT'S HAPPENING UNDERNEATH?
Think about a house.
You might see cracks in one wall.
A problem with the roof.
A door that won't close properly.
Damage in another room.
They look like separate problems.
But what if several of those problems are connected to what's happening with the FOUNDATION?
That's how I want you to think about metabolic health.
Type 2 diabetes.
High blood pressure.
Obesity.
Kidney problems.
Erectile dysfunction.
These are NOT all the same disease, and they do NOT all have one single cause.
But insulin resistance, chronically elevated blood sugar and the metabolic problems associated with them can be important pieces of the puzzle for many people.
And that's the point of this video.
Instead of ONLY asking:
"How do I get my blood pressure down?"
"How do I get my blood sugar down?"
"How do I lose weight?"
We should also be asking:
"What's happening metabolically that may be contributing to these problems?"
Because if the foundation of a house is being damaged, painting the walls doesn't address what's happening underneath.
For me, understanding insulin resistance completely changed the way I started thinking about my health.
Don't just look at the rooms.
LOOK AT THE FOUNDATION. π

STOP CUTTING THE FAT OFF MY JERK PORK! π©π
Mi vex!
I bought some jerk pork today, opened it up, and realized they had cut off most of the skin and fat.
WHY?! π
It's PORK!
The fat and skin are a big part of what gives pork its richness, juiciness and FLAVOR.
Then after cutting all of that off, what do we get?
"Sir, you want jerk sauce?"
"You want ketchup?"
NO! πππ
Give me back the fat and the skin!
Why are we removing some of the most flavorful parts of the pork and then giving people ketchup and sweet sauces to put flavor back on it?
Jerk the pork properly.
Leave the skin on.
Leave the fat on.
And let ME decide whether I want to eat it or cut it off! π
We've spent years being afraid of fat, and I've definitely changed the way I personally think about it.
But forget the nutrition debate for a minute...
I'm talking about FLAVOR! ππ₯
Am I alone on this one?

WHAT I ATE TODAY π₯ππ²
Nothing fancy today. Just simple food that works for me.
On the plate:
π₯ Boiled eggs
π Sardines
π² Some of that Jamaican-style carnivore soup I made
That's it.
One of the biggest things I've learned on this journey is that every meal doesn't have to be exciting or complicated.
I don't need 15 different ingredients.
I don't need to spend hours deciding what to eat.
And I don't need to snack all day.
Most days, I simply eat meat, eggs, fish and other animal foods until I'm satisfied, then I get on with my day.
The carnivore soup gives me a rich, fatty broth along with soup bone, cow foot, cow skin and salt beef. Add the eggs and sardines, and this is a very satisfying meal with plenty of protein and fat.
For me, this way of eating has also removed a lot of the decision-making around food.
Keep it simple.
Eat foods that satisfy you.
Get the nutrients you're looking for.
And move on with your day.
Sometimes simple really is better.
Would you eat this plate? ππ

βJust eat it in moderation.β
That advice failed me.
One of the biggest problems with telling everyone to βeat everything in moderationβ is that it often ignores the relationship some people have with highly processed foods, sugar and refined carbohydrates.
For some of us, these foods donβt feel moderate.
They trigger cravings. They trigger overeating. And once we start, stopping can become difficult.
That was my experience.
When I was morbidly obese and living with type 2 diabetes, simply telling me to βeat lessβ or βhave a littleβ did not address the actual problem I was dealing with.
I needed a different strategy.
For me, drastically reducing the foods that repeatedly triggered my cravings and overeating gave me much better control over my eating.
It also significantly reduced the amount of carbohydrate I was consuming β which meant less glucose entering my bloodstream from those foods.
Over time, alongside the other changes I made, my weight came down, my blood sugar improved, and my A1C went from 14.6 to 5.7.
Eventually, under medical supervision, I was able to come off diabetes medication.
That is MY experience.
I am not saying every diabetic has to eat exactly the way I do.
What I am saying is this:
If a particular food repeatedly causes you to lose control, βjust eat it in moderationβ may not be useful advice for you.
Sometimes removing a trigger can be easier than constantly trying to negotiate with it.

Type 2 diabetes is a serious medical condition. Dietary approaches and individual responses vary. Do not stop or change diabetes medication or insulin without speaking with your healthcare provider. Significant dietary changes, including reducing carbohydrates, can affect blood glucose and may require medication adjustments.
The term βfood addictionβ remains an active area of scientific research and is not currently a formal DSM-5 diagnosis. Some people do experience
HOW TO MAKE JAMAICAN-STYLE CARNIVORE SOUP π―π²π₯©π²
Who says soup needs yam, potatoes, pumpkin and dumpling? π
This is how we make soup at my yard now!
I basically took some of the meats Jamaicans traditionally use to make a good, hearty soup:
π₯© Soup bone
π Cow foot
π Cow skin
π₯© Salt beef
Then we season it Jamaican-style with:
πΏ Thyme
π± Scallion
πΆοΈ Pepper
π« Pimento
And that's basically it.
NO yam.
NO Irish potato.
NO sweet potato.
NO pumpkin.
NO breadfruit.
NO dumplings.
NO flour.
Just meat, broth and seasoning.
The result is a rich, hearty soup packed with animal protein and plenty of fat.
At this stage of my journey, I'm looking at food differently. I'm not eating simply because it's time to eat. I'm thinking about what nutrients I'm getting from the foods I choose.
Protein provides essential amino acids, while dietary fats provide essential fatty acids and help with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
And this soup SATISFIES! π
One more thing I've noticed personally: when I have a rich, fatty soup like this, sometimes it gets the bowels moving! π
I wouldn't call that a "cleanse" in the medical sense. It's simply something I've noticed about how MY digestive system responds to a high-fat meal.
But mi nah lie...
A hot bowl of this Jamaican-style carnivore soup?
PROPER! π―π²π₯
Would you eat your Jamaican soup without the yam, potatoes, pumpkin and dumplings? ππ
