A roadside chapati vendor in Kericho has taken the internet by storm after a video of him making chapatis while wearing a branded "Lee Funeral Home" dust coat went viral.
The unusual choice of workwear quickly caught the attention of netizens, sparking a wave of hilarious reactions across social media platforms. In Kenya, Lee Funeral Home is one of the most prominent morgues, making the sight of its branding next to a food stand both bizarre and comical.
Many online users couldn't help but wonder exactly how the vendor managed to get his hands on a mortuary lab coat.
The post has since been flooded with witty comments and jokes. One amused netizen asked, "Huyu alipata wapi lab coat ya mortuary?" (Where did this guy get a mortuary lab coat?), while others joked that his chapatis must be "to die for."
While some people found the situation a bit unsettling given the association with a funeral home, the vast majority viewed it with classic Kenyan humor, turning the vendor into an overnight online sensation. It just goes to show that on the internet, inspiration—and comedy—can come from the most unexpected places!

A burial in Muhudu Ward, Western Kenya, was stopped after family members objected to the deceased being laid to rest at the family homestead, claiming he was not a biological member of the family.
According to reports, the deceased had been raised by his mother, but relatives opposed the burial, insisting he did not belong to their bloodline. They initially prevented his body from being released from the mortuary.
On the scheduled burial day, a court order reportedly halted the burial, with the family arguing that, under Luhya customary practices, the deceased could not be buried on the ancestral land because he was not considered part of the family by blood. The incident has sparked emotional reactions and renewed debate over the role of customary law in burial disputes.

Grandchildren cannot directly inherit grandparents’ property, court rules.
The High Court has ruled that grandchildren do not have an automatic right to inherit directly from their grandparents if their parents are still alive.
In a decision delivered by Justice Samwel Mohochi in a succession dispute involving the estate of the late Kibowen Komen, the court held that inheritance follows a clear legal line under Kenyan law and cannot skip a generation.
The judge stated that children of the deceased are the primary beneficiaries of an estate. Grandchildren only come into the picture through their parents, who must first inherit their rightful share before passing it on.
The court further noted that grandchildren cannot go to court to claim a share of their grandparents’ property while their own parents, who are direct heirs, are still alive and capable of inheriting.
The ruling has clarified long-standing confusion in family succession disputes, where some grandchildren have attempted to claim a direct share of their grandparents’ estates.
Justice Mohochi emphasized that such claims are not supported by succession law, except in special cases where a parent who would have inherited is already deceased.
The decision is expected to impact ongoing and future inheritance disputes across the country, especially in families where property succession has remained unresolved for years.
