I’m a Mrima babe, I come from One Aguthi village in Naru-Moru, so Nanyuki is actually my hometown;of course, if you disregard the destitute Naru-Moru town. 😂

But I still found it so nolstalgic travelling to the same Nanyuki town a few days ago to facilitate team building at Mountain Lodge. I even posed for photos at the famous Equator, because why not? 😄🌍

If there are teams I enjoy working with, it's those that have clearly defined goals. Knowing what they hope to achieve helps us tailor activities that meet their needs and guide each interaction in a meaningful direction.

These clients of mine recently had a rough moment.

‎I gave them a newspaper and asked everyone to pluck a paper and squeeze it as hard as they could without tearing. Within no time, the newspaper was in pieces;crumpled, creased, and completely out of shape.
‎
‎Then came the second part of the activity.
‎
‎Their task was to re-engineer the newspaper and give it back to me exactly as it was when I handed it to them.
‎
‎My people worked hard. They consulted one another, rearranged the pages, smoothed out every crease, and even tried to "iron" the paper in every way they could think of. They truly sweated over it.
‎
‎Yet, despite all their effort, they could not return the newspaper to its original state.
‎
‎And so it is with life.
‎
‎Sometimes we thoughtlessly destroy what we have;through a careless word, an impulsive action, or a decision that should never have crossed our minds in the first place. Then we spend forever trying to rebuild,and most of the times we never really rebuild to what it was before.
‎
‎A reminder to handle relationships, opportunities, trust, and people with care. Some things are much easier to preserve than they are to repair.

It’s a Friday… and I’m already looking forward to those serious discussions that naturally become part of every team building session I facilitate.

Because, as my clients will tell you, it’s never merely about the activities, it’s about the lessons we take home from them.
