UPDATE: Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya have suffered a major blow after the Registrar of Political Parties(ORPP) rejects their push to rename the United Democratic Party(UDP) to Ukombozi Party of Kenya(UPK).

The Registrar says the name Ukombozi resembles Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) reserved by a different applicant on 20th July, 2026.

TUA was reserved to be a rebranded name of Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

The participating parties are supposed to submit nomination rules certified by the Registrar of Political Parties to the IEBC by October 30, 2026.

The deadlines have heightened pressure on Sifuna and his allies to settle on a political vehicle and complete the statutory requirements needed to participate in the elections.

: TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi announces Salary increase for the teachers allocation, confirming that the new salaries will take effect from July.

According to Muturi, the increase comes after the government allocated Ksh8.4 billion to enhance their pay.

The commission will advertise the promotion of more than 30,000 teachers in the coming weeks after receiving Ksh2 billion from the National Treasury.

Additionally, the TSC chairperson reveals that the commission has secured funding to employ 24,000 JSS teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

Muturi further says the promotions will target teachers across several job groups, from C2 to D5, covering grades C2, C3, D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5.

Construction of the Ksh502 billion Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba SGR line is set to begin in July 2026 after Kenya Railways completed the route planning and validation exercise.
