The People Who Know You Best May Be The Worst People To Sell To.

In entrepreneurship or side hustling, don't be discouraged when friends and family don't buy from you. It's not always hatred or jealousy. Sometimes it's familiarity.

People who know you personally can struggle to separate you from your product. They may feel like you're trying to make money off them, while you may feel like they're trying to take advantage of your relationship.

As Luke 4:24 says, “No prophet is accepted in his hometown.”

Sometimes, your best customers are people who don't know you. They see the product first, experience its value, and then appreciate the person behind it. Don't build a business around sympathy. Build it around value. If someone says they're “supporting you,” that's appreciated but support is not the same as being a paying customer.

So don't take rejection personally. Keep improving your product, listen to criticism, and keep showing up.

You don't need everyone to believe in you. You need to become valuable enough that the right people are willing to pay for what you offer. Kgwebo ke leeto, tswelela ka yone.

And if you're serious about turning your hustle into something bigger, don't just keep working, get the right knowledge, guidance, and accountability.

Our next Mentorship intake starts 8 October.

Our very first Mosali oa Moafrika – Women’s Month Sip ’n Shop has come and gone, but our hearts are still full.

What began as a vision became a beautiful day of womanhood, culture, wellness, entrepreneurship, music and connection because of the people who believed in it, supported it and showed up.

So, even though this thank-you comes a little late, the gratitude is just as heartfelt.
REA LEBOHA. 🙏🏾

TO THE LA’PEARL ESSENTIALS TEAM, OUR FRIENDS & FAMILY
Thank you for everything that happened behind the scenes — the long hours, phone calls, preparations, setup, running around, encouragement, problem-solving and hard work.
An event may last only a few hours, but we know how much work happens before the doors ever open. Thank you for carrying this vision with us.
And finally…

We celebrated.
We connected.
And we began.
