SANITATION IS NOT OPTIONAL IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY.
I originally shared this video on my personal page about a salon experience I had, but as a licensed esthetician, I wanted to share it here for a different reason.
What I saw was concerning — hair left on trays and tools, hair still in brushes, and visible dust and debris throughout the work area.
Whether services are performed in a large salon, a private suite, or a home studio, cleaning, sanitation and proper disinfection matter.
✨ Clean first.
✨ Disinfect appropriately.
✨ Use clean tools for every client.
✨ Keep work surfaces and equipment clean between services.
✨ Never assume something looks clean just because the space looks nice.
Sanitation isn’t about being fancy. It’s about providing clients with a clean, professional environment and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
As clients, pay attention to what you see. You have every right to ask how tools and equipment are cleaned and disinfected before they’re used on you.
Beauty should never come at the expense of cleanliness. 💗

I felt like this was really important to talk about. 💕 I recently heard a friend mention tretinoin, and it reminded me how important it is to educate ourselves about retinol, tretinoin, and how to use retinoids correctly.
These ingredients can be amazing additions to a skincare routine, but stronger doesn’t always mean better — and using them incorrectly can lead to dryness, irritation and a compromised skin barrier.
