HORMONAL BLOOD TESTS
If you have irregular periods, absent periods, excessive facial hair or breast milk discharge when you are not breastfeeding, your doctor may request some hormonal tests.
These may include:

FSH and LH: Help assess the hormonal regulation of ovulation.

Prolactin: Particularly useful when you have absent or irregular periods or unexpected breast milk discharge.

TSH: Checks thyroid function when thyroid problems are suspected.

Testosterone and other androgen tests: May be requested when PCOS or another hormonal disorder is suspected.

These tests can help identify hormonal problems that may interfere with ovulation.

PELVIC ULTRASOUND SCAN
This scan helps assess the uterus and ovaries.
It may identify:

Fibroids.

Ovarian cysts.

Features suggestive of polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS).

Some uterine abnormalities and other pelvic abnormalities.

HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAPHY (HSG)
Have you heard a woman say, "My tubes are blocked"?
HSG is an X-ray investigation that assess whether the fallopian tubes are open.

It can also provide information about the shape of the uterine cavity.

Your doctor may recommend it if:

You have been trying to conceive without success.

You have a history of pelvic inflammatory disease.

You previously had an ectopic pregnancy.
Tubal blockage is suspected.

📌 HSG is usually performed after menstruation and before ovulation, when pregnancy has been excluded. The hospital will give you the appropriate timing and preparation instructions.

Let me tell you a story. A story about a woman who desperately wanted to become a mother, but getting pregnant wasn't as easy as she had imagined.

Imagine trying month after month, hoping to see those two lines on a pregnancy test, only to be disappointed repeatedly.

She decided to seek medical help. One test led to another. Different investigations were carried out, and then came the news about her low progesterone level.

Progesterone is a hormone that plays an important role in preparing the uterus for pregnancy and supporting early pregnancy.

She went through a series of tests, hoping to find answers and finally hold her own baby.

Then, one day, something beautiful happened! 🤰

She became pregnant!

The joy, the excitement, the hope—finally, she was going to be a mother!

But sadly, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. 💔

She had to undergo a uterine evacuation, a procedure used to remove pregnancy tissue remaining in the uterus after a pregnancy loss.

If you have ever experienced a miscarriage, you may understand the emotional pain that comes with losing a pregnancy you had prayed and waited for.

But her story didn't end there.

She became pregnant again!

Unfortunately, she experienced another miscarriage.

Imagine going through the struggle of getting pregnant, the excitement of finally conceiving, and then the heartbreak of losing the pregnancy—not once, but twice.

This story was my reality before I became a mother of two beautiful kids. Infertility and pregnancy loss are real reproductive health challenges, and women experiencing them deserve medical care, understanding and compassion, not judgment.

🩺 SO, WHAT CAN CAUSE INFERTILITY?

There are several possible causes, including:

1️⃣ Ovulation problems

2️⃣ Hormonal problems

3️⃣ Low progesterone

4️⃣ Blocked fallopian tubes

5️⃣ Endometriosis

6️⃣ Male-factor infertility

7️⃣ Age-related changes

8️⃣ Uterine abnormalities

If you have been trying to conceive for 12 months without success—or for 6 months if you are 35 or older—seek a fertility assessment. Earlier evaluation is appropriate if you have irregular periods, known reproductive problems or other risk factors.

MY MESSAGE TO EVERY WOMAN TRYING TO CONCEIVE:

Please, don't suffer in silence. Don't assume that you are the problem, and don't allow anybody to make you feel less of a woman because you haven't conceived.

Seek medical help. Ask questions. Get the right investigations. And remember that fertility challenges are not exclusively a woman's responsibility.

A woman reached out to me recently with a problem that left her feeling overwhelmed.

Her baby was just 8 months old, and she had discovered that she was pregnant again!

As we continued talking, she opened up about her fears.

She told me she wasn't mentally prepared for another pregnancy. Financially, she was struggling, and the thought of starting all over again with another baby was becoming too much for her to bear.

Then she made a request that caught my attention.

She wanted me to help her get an abortion.

I could feel the desperation behind her words. She wasn't just talking about another pregnancy; she was talking about a situation she felt unprepared to handle.

I explained to her that abortion is a serious medical decision, not something to be undertaken casually or without proper assessment. I told her, abortion can only be considered medically if there is a life threatening condition. I also discussed her options, explain the risks, and help her make an informed decision.

But I also reminded her of something important.

family planning could have helped you prevent this pregnancy until you were emotionally, physically, and financially ready for another baby.”

Many women believe they cannot get pregnant while breastfeeding, especially when their monthly period has not returned.

But let me tell you something: YOU CAN GET PREGNANT WHILE BREASTFEEDING!

Ovulation can occur before your first period after childbirth. This means you may become pregnant without seeing your period at all.

I encouraged her to seek antenatal care promptly, discuss her nutritional needs with a healthcare professional, and continue breastfeeding until her strength can no longer take it maybe because of the demand of the new pregnancy.

But beyond all the medical advice, I wanted her to understand one thing:

SHE WAS NOT A BAD MOTHER BECAUSE SHE FELT OVERWHELMED.

And this brings me to you, my dear women. ❤️

Please, don't wait until an unplanned pregnancy leaves you confused, frightened, and financially stressed before thinking about family planning.

FAMILY PLANNING IS NOT THE ENEMY OF MOTHERHOOD. IT IS ONE WAY OF PLANNING FOR A HEALTHIER MOTHER AND A HEALTHIER FAMILY.

And to the woman who reached out to me: I hope you receive the support, care, and guidance you need to navigate this situation safely. 🙏

LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING! 👇

If a woman tells you that her baby is only 8 months old and she is pregnant again, would you judge her, or would you try to understand what she is going through?

Let's discuss this respectfully in the comments.

Please SHARE this post. It might help another woman make an informed decision before facing the same situation.

LADIES, DO YOU IRON YOUR PANTIES? HERE IS WHY YOU SHOULD!

Ladies, after washing your underwear, do you simply dry it and wear it, or do you iron it before wearing it? 🤔

Let me tell you something important!

Heat can kill some microorganisms. Washing removes dirt and many germs, while the heat from ironing can kill some remaining microorganisms if the fabric reaches a sufficiently high temperature.

Ironing may help reduce microbial contamination. Proper washing, thorough drying and good underwear hygiene help reduce the growth of microorganisms that thrive in wet fabrics.

BUT HERE IS THE TRUTH! Ironing your underwear is NOT a guaranteed way to prevent vaginal infections, yeast infections or urinary tract infections. Many vaginal infections are caused by changes in the normal vaginal flora, hormonal changes or other factors—not simply dirty underwear.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Wash your underwear properly with detergent.
Dry it completely in the sun not in your toilet before wearing it.
Choose breathable cotton underwear, especially if you experience irritation.
Avoid wearing damp underwear
Never use perfumes or harsh chemicals on your intimate area.

Ladies, remember: Good intimate hygiene starts with proper washing and thorough drying, not just ironing!

NOW TELL ME: DO YOU IRON YOUR UNDERWEAR AFTER WASHING, OR DO YOU WEAR IT DIRECTLY AFTER DRYING?
