Your Happiness Is Also Your Responsibility
Someone asked me today, Are you happy?
I smiled and replied, Yes.
Then came a simple statement that stayed with me:
You're the only one who can make yourself happy. Don't think anyone else will do that for you.
The more I reflected on those words, the more I realized they carry an important truth but they also need balance.
The people in our lives do matter. Healthy relationships, supportive families, good friends, meaningful work, and acts of kindness all contribute to our well-being. In the same way, loss, betrayal, disappointment, or hardship can genuinely affect how we feel.
But even with all of that, there comes a point where we must choose how we respond. We cannot place the full responsibility for our happiness, growth, or future in someone else's hands.
Support is a blessing, but responsibility is personal.
Choose growth. Choose peace. Choose to become the best version of yourself, while appreciating those who walk the journey with you.

My Snake Battle Story 🐍🤣
Last night, as I was about to open the entrance door, I saw a small brown snake crawling out. At first, I was like, What is this? I quickly removed my palm slippers to kill it, but the sharp guy disappeared back into a hole.
I immediately poured Sniper into the hole, expecting it to come out, but nothing happened.
This afternoon, I was telling my colleagues about it and thanking God for the day Iya Yemi made me kill a snake back in 2021 and for my daddy's tutorial on how to kill snakes. Since yesterday, I have been walking carefully, checking every corner and opening and closing the door quickly because I was sure the snake hadn't entered the house. My sister even placed Sniper around, just in case. 🤣
Fast forward to this evening. I went into the kitchen to wash my hands when I noticed something brown on the floor. I said to myself, Let me not just assume. I used my phone torch, and behold... it was truly my enemy! 🐍
I quickly ran inside to look for something to use. The only thing I found was a measuring ruler (thank God I am living with a tailor 😂). Armed with my ruler, I faced my enemy and... victory was mine. 💪🏽🤣
I left the snake there and waited for my baby sister to come so we could carry it outside.
As she got to the entrance, she was already asking,
Aunty Toyin, should I carry the Sniper inside?
Me: Yes.
I opened the door for her. As usual, madam used her torchlight first. The moment she saw the snake lying on the floor, she screamed:
Aunty Toyin! Aunty Toyin! It's there! Who are we going to call?
Me: Mama, enter.
She: Enter ke? I am not joking! It's there.
Me: 🤣🤣🤣 Relax, it's dead.
My oyibo sister still refused to enter. I had to carry it myself like a warrior while she followed behind me. 😂
I then told her she owed me a bottle of malt for my bravery. She said I deserved more than that. That's when I remembered Girlfriend's Day is around the corner, so I upgraded my reward request.
Forget the malt. You're buying me pizza! 🍕🤣
Mission accomplished. Our enemy has been defeated.
