✨ BEAUTY MYTH BUSTED: Do pores really open & close? 🛑

Let’s clear this up once and for all: Pores do not have muscles, which means they cannot open or close! ❌

Here’s what’s actually happening when you use hot & cold water:
🔥 Hot Water / Steam: Softens trapped oil and dirt so it’s easier to cleanse away. (Just don't use steaming hot water—it can damage your skin barrier!)

🧊 Cold Water: Temporarily constricts blood vessels, reducing puffiness and giving your skin a firm feeling that looks like closed pores.

I am curious!

Quick question. How do you measure your essential oils?

By drops?
Accurate weighing?
Or perhaps by 'guestimating'?

The thing is, drop size is not reliable - if you’ve ever used drops, you’ll know they can whiz out super fast, or take a painfully long amount of time (hello benzoin!).

But the fix is simple!

Weigh your essential oils. Every time. It takes a few extra seconds and it's the one habit that turns "it worked last time" into "it works every time."

We’ll be digging into this (and lots more) in our live class this Wednesday 19th August, Essential Oils: From Chemistry to Formulation.

🌿 Herbal Infusion 101: Everything You Need to Know! ✨

Unlocking the goodness of herbs is an art, and choosing the right liquid (solvent) is key!
Did you know you can extract herbal properties using:
💧 Water (Try coconut water or rosewater for extra benefits!)
🍯 Honey
✨ Carrier Oils
🍷 Alcohol or Vegetable Glycerine

💡 4 Quick Rules for Infusion Success:
1️⃣ Dry & Crumble First:
Unless you're making a fresh herbal bath, always use properly dried and crumbled herbs. Water in fresh herbs can introduce bacteria and mold to oils or honey!

2️⃣ Pick the Right Vessel:
A properly sterilized mason jar (or a clean re-purposed glass jar) is your best friend.

3️⃣ Choose Your Method:
Depending on the herb, you can do a cold infusion, hot infusion, or a combination method.

4️⃣ Know Your Herb & Usage:
Not all plant compounds dissolve in oil! Some essential compounds only extract well in water or alcohol. Always match the herb and its intended end-use to the right medium.

Follow these easy steps to dry your own herbs:
1️⃣ Pick the best! Select healthy leaves and stems, avoiding any that are discolored or damaged.
2️⃣ Give them a rinse. Gently wash away any dust or dirt.
3️⃣ Pat 'em dry. Use a paper towel or clean cloth to remove excess moisture.
4️⃣ Choose your drying method:
Dehydrator/Oven: Fastest option, but watch them closely on a very low setting!
Air Dry: Let nature do the work! Find a dry spot away from direct sunlight and dust. (Harmattan season is perfect for this! 😉)
Get ready for amazing homemade herb blends! 😋
