FIRST, WHAT ARE FIBROIDS?

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that can develop in or around the womb.

Some women have fibroids and still get pregnant without any difficulty.

So having fibroids does NOT automatically mean a woman cannot have children.

THEN HOW CAN FIBROIDS AFFECT PREGNANCY?

The truth is, it depends on factors such as WHERE the fibroid is located, its size, and whether it changes the shape of the womb.

For example, fibroids that grow into the space inside the womb can interfere with the area where an embryo needs to implant.

Some fibroids can also change the shape of the womb or affect the normal anatomy of the reproductive organs.

THIS IS WHY NOT ALL FIBROIDS HAVE THE SAME EFFECT.

A small fibroid in one location may have little or no effect on fertility.

Another fibroid that changes the womb cavity may have a greater effect.
