Gunmen invade Catholic Church in Enugu, abduct seminarian and others
The armed men are said to have invaded St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inoyi, in Affa, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, this morning, August 2.
Speaking in a video, locals said it was raining when people began going to church.
However, those on the way to the church saw a crowd running out of church and they told them that at least seven armed men had invaded their church and kidnapped some members, including the seminarian.
The locals said they chased after the kidnappers but there was not much they could do since they are not armed and the kidnappers are well armed.
The locals said they are willing and able to protect themselves and go into bushes to fish out the kidnappers. However, they asked how they would do that without weapons. They said even their local security agents do not have arms.
They called on the government to intervene and keep them safe or give them arms to secure themselves.
They lamented that one of those kidnapped is an indigene who returned to bury his father.

How many of you remembered Victor, that his wedding went viral years ago, he is back in the news.
Victor a Nigerian citizen and Diane Patterson's (united States of America citizen) love story began online before Diane later travelled to Nigeria to see Victor for the very first time.
Their relationship blossomed, and the two eventually got married. Sometime after their wedding, they adopted a son and started building a life together.
However, the marriage has reportedly caused tension within Diane's family.
Victor a Nigerian adopted Diane's late husband's surname and now goes by Victor Patterson instead of the other way round โ a decision her relatives say they are uncomfortable with.
During a recent TikTok Live, Diane's niece revealed that the family does not support the marriage.
She claimed they believe Victor only became close to Diane after the family had distanced themselves from her over disagreements, including allegations that Diane tried to control them with her money.
During the live, the host advised the family to support Diane, but they insisted they believe she is lonely and may have some regrets because she doesnโt have a biological child.
They also said they are uncomfortable with Victor taking their late uncleโs surname, as they suspect Diane may have added him to her will, giving him access to their late uncleโs wealth.
