My parents weren’t perfect.

But they taught me respect.

They taught me that actions have consequences.

They taught me that the world does not revolve around me.

Looking around today, I wonder:

Have we become so focused on protecting children’s feelings that we have forgotten to build their character?

That’s a genuine question.

This post may be controversial, but I’ll say it anyway.

Every time I see a child publicly insulting their parents, fighting teachers, bullying others, or behaving without limits, I ask myself:

Who is raising this child?

Not because parents are perfect.

Not because parenting is easy.

But because every child is learning something from somewhere.

Parents, teachers, religious leaders, and society all have a role to play.

If we don’t raise our children properly today, tomorrow they will become the adults running our communities.

And by then, it may be too late to fix what should have been taught in childhood.
