I get messages like this all the time, and I completely understand the anxiety. ❤️

Let’s break down what’s actually happening here.

First, let’s look at your cycle.

If your period consistently starts around the 15th of every month and your cycle is about 31 days long, your next period would be expected around September 15.

Ovulation usually occurs about 12–14 days before the next period, so your estimated ovulation date would be around August 31–September 2.

That puts your fertile window roughly around August 27–September 2.

So, having unprotected s*x during this period can increase the chance of pregnancy.

But here’s where the family-planning injection comes in.

If you recently stopped using a contraceptive injection, your fertility may not return immediately.

Unlike some other contraceptive methods, the injection can cause a delay in the return of ovulation after the last dose. For some people, fertility returns within a few months; for others, it can take considerably longer.

And here’s something important:

Having a period does not always confirm that you ovulated.

After stopping the injection, your cycles may take some time to become regular, and some bleeding episodes may occur without ovulation.

So calendar calculations alone aren't enough.

If you're actively trying to conceive, ovulation predictor kits (LH strips) can help you identify the hormonal surge that usually happens shortly before ovulation. Paying attention to changes in cervical mucus can also provide useful clues.

What can you do now?

*Start taking folic acid daily while trying to conceive.

*If your cycles are fairly predictable, consider using ovulation test strips from around cycle day 10–12 and continue testing according to the kit's instructions.

*Give your body some time if you've recently stopped the injection. A delayed return to fertility does not necessarily mean there's a problem.

And remember: your fertile window is an estimate, not a guarantee.

If you've been having regular unprotected s*x while trying to conceive for 12 months without pregnancy, speak with a healthcare provider for an evaluation. Earlier assessment may be appropriate if your periods remain very irregular or you have other concerns.

The moment to adhere to my words came

I am this parent that believes that YOU MUST BE PRACTICAL ABOUT WHAT YOU TEACH YOUR CHILD. This is the easiest way to gain respect and trust from your child

Yesterday after drinking water, I threw the sachet on the floor, not because I am used to trashing it that way but because my infant was crying so I needed to rush and attend to her

What I heard next is, "that water sachet that you threw there is it good, is that the right place to trash it ,eh mummy?( This is my daughter of 2years + questioning my actions 😂😂)

I realised where she drew her lines from and she was so smart to replace Simdi with mummy 😂😂😂

I had to respond,"No, that's not the right place to trash it"

She went further to ask me to pick it and trash it properly and I had to obey her

Why I am I writing this, that you are a parent doesn't mean you shouldn't be practical about what you teach and instruct your children to do

This will also prove to your child that their seen and valued

Don't think because you are a parent, you are always right and even when you are wrong, you can't apologise

These are little things that matters and makes our children respect us even when they grow into adulthood

So be that parent that sets and follow standards

“I have prolonged bleeding and pelvic pain. My scan says I have adenomyosis. What do I do?”

Adenomyosis can cause heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, severe cramps, pelvic pain, bloating, and sometimes pain during s*x.

If your scan suggests adenomyosis, don’t panic. The next step is to discuss the result with a qualified healthcare professional, who can assess your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

Treatment depends on factors such as how severe your symptoms are, whether you have anaemia from heavy bleeding, your age, and whether you want to become pregnant.

Depending on your situation, treatment may include medications to control pain or heavy bleeding, hormonal treatment, or other options when symptoms are severe or do not improve.

Also remember that adenomyosis can have symptoms similar to fibroids and endometriosis, so proper evaluation is important.

If you are experiencing very heavy bleeding, severe or worsening pain, dizziness, fainting, or weakness, seek medical attention promptly.

Take your symptoms seriously. Don’t suffer in silence.

"I’m 31 weeks pregnant, feeling dizzy, and my blood test says I’m anaemic. What do I do?”

First, don’t panic. Anaemia is common during pregnancy, but it should be properly evaluated and treated.

Anaemia in pregnancy means your blood doesn’t have enough healthy red blood cells or haemoglobin to carry enough oxygen around your body.

What causes it?

The most common cause is iron deficiency, but anaemia can also result from:

• Folate or vitamin B12 deficiency
• Blood loss
• Having twins or more, which increases your body’s nutritional demands
• Certain medical conditions

Common symptoms

You may experience:

• Tiredness or weakness
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Pale skin
• Shortness of breath
• Fast heartbeat

Some women may have few or no symptoms, which is why antenatal blood tests are important.

Why should you take it seriously?

Untreated or severe anaemia during pregnancy can increase the risk of complications, including preterm birth, low birth weight and complications around delivery.

What should you do?

1. Follow your healthcare provider’s treatment plan.
If your anaemia is due to iron deficiency, you may be prescribed iron supplements, often alongside folic acid.

2. Eat iron-rich foods.
Good options include lean red meat, beans, lentils, dark leafy vegetables and iron-fortified foods.

3. Add vitamin C.
Foods such as oranges, guava, tomatoes and other vitamin-C-rich foods can help your body absorb iron.

4. Keep your antenatal appointments.
Your healthcare provider may repeat your blood test to check whether your haemoglobin is improving.

5. Don’t self-medicate.
Not every case of anaemia is caused by iron deficiency, so the cause matters when deciding on treatment.

Seek medical attention promptly if you faint, feel extremely weak, have difficulty breathing, experience chest pain, have a very fast heartbeat, or your dizziness is severe or worsening.

"I was feeling dizzy, so I took malt and milk… but nothing changed.” 😭

If you are among those who take malt and milk as “blood boosters,” come closer and hold your two ears.

Malt and milk are NOT treatments for low blood.

Milk is a dairy product. It contains nutrients such as protein and calcium, but it is not a “blood-giving” substance.

Malt drinks are commonly made using malted barley and may contain carbohydrates and added vitamins/minerals, depending on the brand. But drinking malt does not automatically increase your haemoglobin or PCV.

So mixing the two and expecting your “blood level” to rise? It doesn’t work like that.

And please remember:

Dizziness does not automatically mean low blood.

Dizziness can occur for several reasons, including:

• Dehydration
• Low blood pressure
• Low blood sugar
• Anaemia
• Lack of adequate food
• Certain medications
• Inner-ear problems
• And several other conditions

If you repeatedly feel dizzy, don't just reach for malt and milk. Find out why.

And if a laboratory test confirms that you have low haemoglobin, don't simply start taking random “blood boosters.”

Haemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen around the body. The appropriate treatment depends on why the haemoglobin is low.

Iron deficiency may require iron treatment. Folate or vitamin B12 deficiency may require supplementation. Blood loss or an underlying illness may require completely different treatment.

You can support healthy blood production with a balanced, nutritious diet, including iron-containing foods such as meat, fish, beans, eggs and leafy vegetables.

But remember:

MALT + MILK ≠ BLOOD TRANSFUSION 😂

If you feel dizzy, find the cause instead of treating yourself based on assumptions.

Have you ever heard someone recommend malt and milk for “low blood”?

NEWBORN DANGER SIGNS EVERY MOTHER SHOULD KNOW

Dear Mummy, your newborn may not be able to tell you when something is wrong, so knowing the warning signs can make a huge difference.

Difficulty breathing
Baby is breathing very fast, struggling to breathe, grunting, or the chest is pulling in while breathing.

Fever or unusually low temperature
A newborn with a temperature of 38°C or higher needs urgent medical assessment. A baby who feels unusually cold should also be assessed.

Poor feeding or refusing to breastfeed
If your baby suddenly stops feeding, cannot suck properly, or is repeatedly vomiting, don't ignore it.

Baby is unusually sleepy or difficult to wake
If your baby is extremely weak, floppy, or not responding normally, seek medical help immediately.

Convulsions or seizures
Any seizure-like activity in a newborn is an emergency.

Severe or worsening jaundice
Yellowing of the skin or eyes, especially when it is becoming more severe or the baby is difficult to wake or feed, needs medical assessment.

Red, swollen or pus-filled umbilical cord
A bad smell, pus, swelling or redness spreading around the cord can be a sign of infection.

Very little or no urine
A significant reduction in wet diapers may indicate dehydration or illness.

Green-coloured vomiting
Green vomit in a newborn requires urgent medical attention.

Mummy, trust your instincts. If your newborn looks or behaves unusually and you are worried, don't wait for the condition to become severe or wait to get prescription from your neighbours. Visit the hospital

HEAVY BLEEDING AFTER CHILDBIRTH IS NOT SOMETHING TO "WAIT OUT."

Waiting to see if it stops on its own is a risk no mother should take.

Postpartum hemorrhage can become life-threatening in a matter of minutes.

❌️ DON’T: Wait and hope the bleeding will stop on its own.

✅ DO: Treat heavy bleeding after childbirth as a medical emergency and seek immediate medical attention.

Why does heavy bleeding happen?

Uterine Atony: The uterus isn't contracting properly to seal off blood vessels.

Retained Tissue: Small pieces of the placenta remain inside.

Tears: Unnoticed lacerations in the birth canal.

Clotting Issues: Underlying problems with blood coagulation.

What are the warning signs you should never ignore:

1. Soaking through more than 1 heavy pad per hour for 2 hours in a row.

2. Passing blood clots larger than a tennis ball.

3. Feeling dizzy, weak, faint, or unusually pale.

Do not wait until a you or another new mother becomes weak or unconscious. Early action saves lives.
