RSP lawmaker Basu Maya Tamang has urged the Nepal government to legalize cannabis, saying it could bring major economic, medicinal and industrial benefits to the country. She said cannabis should not only be seen as a banned substance, but also as a resource that can be used in medicine, farming, clothing, and other industries.

Supporters of cannabis legalization argue that Nepal could earn revenue, create jobs and support local farmers if it is properly regulated. However, the issue remains sensitive, as the government would need strong laws to control misuse while allowing legal use for medical and industrial purposes.
