Cosmetic Tattooist/Lip Blush/Dark Lip Neutralisation/Ombré/Powder/Correction Brow/Brow stylist.
After staying in a hotel recently, I realised the little vanity packs were exactly what I’d been looking for for my client aftercare. So naturally I went down the rabbit hol, bought a heat sealer, heat and bags and started making my own.
It’s the tiny details that most people never see, but they’re the things I genuinely love. If it makes the experience a little more thoughtful for my clients, I’m all in.
Also, excuse the pyjamas and bunny ears. This is what business ownership looks like after hours, while Rocco is having some downtime. His little “Hi Mum, can I help?” might just be my favourite part of the whole video.

Some treatments stay with you long after your client walks out the door.
When my beautiful client first came to me, she had already completed three sessions of Inkless Scar Rejuvenation with the incredibly talented Sarah from Hawke's Bay - Paramedical & Cosmetic Tattoo Sarah recognised that lip blush could be the next step in her client’s treatment plan and trusted me with her referral. I’m so grateful for that trust and for the care Sarah had already poured into this journey.
Over three lip blush sessions, we worked together to restore balance, refine shape where it mattered most to my client, and create colour harmony while respecting the way different tissues heal. Every decision was made with intention, and every session built on the one before it.
But what I’ll remember most isn’t the treatment.
I’ll remember the conversations about motherhood, fashion, life, and all the little things that make us who we are. She reminded me that some of the strongest people carry themselves with the quietest grace.
Thank you for trusting me with something so personal. It was an absolute privilege to be part of your story.
And thank you, Sarah, for your beautiful work and for referring your client to me. It’s a reminder that the best outcomes often come from practitioners working together, each bringing their own expertise.
Beauty has never been just skin deep. Sometimes it’s found in resilience. Sometimes it’s found in kindness, and sometimes it’s simply helping someone see a reflection that feels a little more like themselves. 🤍
Bring your favourite lip inspiration to your appointment.
I love seeing what you’re drawn to because it helps me understand the look you want.
Let’s say you love a berry lip. That doesn’t automatically tell me which berry.
Some berries lean warmer, others cooler. The difference is subtle, but it completely changes how the final result feels.
Your inspiration helps me see the details you might not even realise you’re choosing.
The goal isn’t to copy someone else’s lips. It’s to understand what you’re naturally drawn to, then create your version of that colour.
That’s why colour selection matters. It’s never about picking a pigment because it’s popular. It’s about creating a result that feels like you.

One pair of lips can hold multiple depths of pigmentation.
Many of the lips I treat belong to Māori and Pasifika women, and it’s common for me to see multiple depths of pigmentation within the same lip.
Look closely at these images. The inner lip is naturally much pinker, while other areas hold different amounts of brown pigmentation. This variation is completely normal.
That’s why I work in layers for most of my dark lip brightening treatments.
Rather than treating the entire lip as one colour, I assess each area individually and build the treatment according to how pigmentation presents. It allows me to work with the lip that’s in front of me, instead of applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
Every pair of lips tells a different story. My job is to read that story before I ever pick up my machine.
Two questions I get asked all the time…
“Does it hurt?”
As you can hear… no. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most clients are surprised by how comfortable the treatment is, especially once the numbing has taken effect.
“How long does it last?”
With good aftercare, daily SPF (yes, even in winter), and a colour boost around every two years, your lip blush can stay looking fresh for years. Some clients even go longer before they’re ready for a refresh.
Beautiful results aren’t just about the appointment. Looking after your lips afterwards makes all the difference.

Most people think this is lip blush. It isn’t!
Dark lip brightening uses the same tattooing technique, but the way I choose pigments, plan the treatment, and place colour is completely different.
My client came to me wanting a beautiful berry-toned lip, like she’s wearing a soft berry gloss every day, before we started, we had a conversation about expectations.
I couldn’t simply tattoo a berry colour over these lips. Because of the amount and distribution of melanin within her lip tissue, I had to work with her lips differently. Every pigment choice was intentional, with the goal of gradually shifting the lips towards a brighter, more even canvas before we can achieve that healed berry result.
Dark lip brightening is a process, not a one-session transformation. Most clients need a minimum of two sessions, but I always recommend expecting three. Rushing this treatment or treating it like a standard lip blush often leads to poor healed results.
The art isn’t just in tattooing. It’s in understanding the canvas you’re working on before you ever choose a pigment.

Lip blush can improve balance, restore lost definition, and create the illusion of greater symmetry through strategic colour placement. What it can’t do is change the underlying anatomy or add volume where there isn’t any.
Many people believe their asymmetry comes from an uneven border or Cupid’s bow, when in reality it’s often the natural volume and thickness of the lip tissue itself.
Understanding the difference helps you make informed decisions and ensures your expectations match what the treatment is designed to achieve. Great results don’t come from overpromising—they come from respecting your anatomy and working with it, not against it.
