As part of a science partnership between whaleology and Ponant Science aboard the French icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot, ēkôsauna founder Olive Andrews is running visual and acoustic surveys for marine mammals — narwhal, bearded seals, whatever's moving under the ice.

Update from East Greenland. 🐋❄️

After crossing the Denmark Strait, Olive and the research team made their way into Tasiilaq Fjord — ice-filled, remote, and unlike anywhere else on earth.

Hydrophones deployed beneath the Arctic surface. And then — narwhals. Foraging acoustics filling the water — echolocation clicks, pulse tones. The sound of narwhals catching lunch beneath the Arctic ice.
