Infraspintus is one of the rotator cuff muscles that support your shoulder joint. Trigger points in this muscle can create shoulder and arm pain firing all the way to your fingers.

Massage can help to release them & increase mobility in the shoulder.

Appointments available this week 😊.

Piriformis is quite a well-known muscle regarding sciatica & pain referral down the leg. The sciatic nerve usually passes under or through this muscle, and if it contracts/spasms, it creates nerve pain. Trigger points can also mimic this pain and trigger points in other hip muscles also mimic sciatica.

Massage can help release the spasm & the trigger points.

Appointments available this week.

Traps! One of our favourite areas for holding tension, usually overactive & like to work when they don't need to, making our shoulders creep up towards our ears. Trigger points can lead to several types of headache & burning shoulder pain. Massage can help to relieve the pain and reduce the tension.

Appointments available this week.

Suboccipital muscles sit right at the base of your skull and are a major player in headaches.

If you have a head-forward posture, these muscles work overtime to lift your head up.

Massage can help to release them and reduce trigger points.

Serratus Anterior is a shoulder girdle muscle that holds your shoulder blade onto your ribs. When it gets tight, it restricts the movement of the shoulder blade, and trigger points can fire into the side of the ribs (classic stitch pain when running) or under the scapula. Massage can help to release it and reduce pain.

Appointments available this week 😁.

Serratus Posterior Inferior (another mouthful!) is the little brother of last week's muscle. It lies underneath the Lats and helps to rotate the trunk side to side or extend backwards. It's also an accessory breathing muscle as it attaches to the ribs.

It complains if you do a lot of lifting and twisting, or slouching.

Massage can help to release it and relieve trigger points.

Appointments available this week.

Serratus Posterior Superior (bit of a mouthful) is a small muscle that sits under the rhomboids, between your shoulder blades. It's an assistant breathing muscle as it's attached to the upper ribs, and also stabilises the rib cage. Trigger points can fire under the shoulder blade and down the arm. Massage can help to release them.

Appointments are available in Laingholm this week, Wednesday & Friday.

QL (quadratus lumborum) is a little muscle in the lower back that can have a huge workload, especially if core muscles aren't firing properly. It arches your back, twists side to side, hikes your hip up for walking and supports your back when you lean forward or lift things up from the ground.

Massage can help to release trigger points and relieve tension. A postural analysis can also help us work out which muscles are working too hard & which need to work harder.

Latissimus Dorsi (Lats for short) is a large muscle of the lower-mid back that we use a lot for lifting and pushing. It's trigger points can refer right under the shoulder blade and down into the fingers. If this sounds familiar, massage can help release it.

Appointments available this week 😊

Glute Med & Min are the smaller muscles of your glute group. They sit on the side if your hip, and trigger points here can send pain into your hip joint or down your leg, mimicking sciatica, gluteal tendinopathy and ITB pain.

Massage can help release the trigger points & relieve some of the pain.

Appointments available this week.
