Whether you've had a joint replacement, ligament repair, spinal surgery or another orthopaedic procedure, physiotherapy plays an important role in helping you recover safely and achieve the best possible outcome.
At Parnell Physio, we'll work with you to:
✔ Restore movement and flexibility
✔ Rebuild strength and confidence
✔ Reduce pain and stiffness
✔ Improve balance and function
✔ Help you return to everyday activities, work and sport at the right pace
Every recovery is different, which is why your rehabilitation programme is tailored to your individual goals and stage of healing.
If you're preparing for surgery or are ready to begin your rehabilitation afterwards, our experienced team is here to support you every step of the way.

Your spine works hard every day.
Whether you've lifted something awkwardly, spent long hours at a desk, been busy in the garden, or simply woken up with a stiff neck or sore back, back pain can make everyday activities feel much more difficult.
Common symptoms include:
✔ Neck pain and stiffness
✔ Upper or lower back pain
✔ Muscle strains and spasms
✔ Reduced movement
✔ Pain when bending, lifting or turning
Many spinal injuries and strains respond well to physiotherapy.
Our experienced team will assess what's contributing to your symptoms and develop a personalised treatment plan, which may include hands-on treatment, tailored exercises and practical advice to help you move with confidence again.
If your neck or back has been slowing you down, we'd be happy to help.

Shoulder pain can make even the simplest everyday tasks feel difficult.
Reaching into a cupboard, fastening a seatbelt, hanging out the washing or lifting something overhead can all become uncomfortable when your shoulder isn't moving as it should.
Shoulder pain can develop after an injury, but it can also build up gradually over time through repetitive movements, sport, work or everyday activities.
Physiotherapy can help identify what's contributing to your symptoms and provide a personalised treatment plan to improve movement, reduce discomfort and help you return to the activities you enjoy.
If your shoulder has been bothering you for a while, it may be worth having it assessed rather than hoping it will simply settle on its own.
Our experienced team is here to help you move comfortably and confidently again.

Whether you're playing competitively, enjoying a social league, or cheering on your children from the sidelines, netball places high demands on the body.
Quick changes of direction, jumping, landing and fast-paced play can all contribute to injuries such as:
-Ankle sprains
-Knee pain
-Calf and Achilles strains
-Shoulder and finger injuries following awkward catches or falls
If you've picked up a ni**le that's affecting your game, don't wait until it becomes something more serious. Early assessment and the right rehabilitation can often help you recover more efficiently and reduce the risk of the problem returning.
We love helping our patients stay active and keep doing the sports they enjoy throughout the season.

Winter doesn't stop Aucklanders getting out on the water.
Whether you're kayaking around the harbour, paddling with a canoe club, rowing, sailing, wing foiling or braving a winter surf session, water sports place unique demands on the body.
Common issues we see include:
✔ Shoulder pain
✔ Neck and upper back tension
✔ Lower back stiffness
✔ Rib and trunk strains
✔ Overuse injuries from repetitive paddling or sailing movements
Many of these problems start as minor ni**les before gradually becoming more limiting over time.
If you're spending time on the water this winter and something isn't feeling quite right, getting it assessed early can often help prevent a longer interruption to the activities you enjoy.

Feeling stiffer this winter? You're not imagining it.
As the temperatures drop, many people notice old aches and pains becoming more noticeable. Whether it's a stiff neck after a day at the desk, an achy back getting out of bed, or knees that seem to complain more on colder mornings, winter can be a challenging time for our bodies.
Often it's not the cold itself causing the problem, but changes in our routines. We tend to move less, spend more time sitting indoors, and warm up less thoroughly before exercise.
The good news is that you don't have to simply put up with it until spring arrives.
A physiotherapy assessment can help identify what's contributing to your discomfort and provide practical strategies to help you move more comfortably throughout the winter months.
If winter aches and pains are slowing you down, we'd be happy to help.
