Had the lovely .s in my chair recently. ✨

We had a little play around with some transfers from We added half of a pātiki (flounder) tukutuku design. In Māori symbolism, the pātiki is often associated with abundance, prosperity, and hospitality, making it a beautiful addition to this set.

One of the things I loved most about these nails was being able to incorporate elements from Matariki collection. The range includes some stunning tāniko and tukutuku-inspired designs that add so much meaning and storytelling to nail art. 👀 The Pātiki in these compositions symbolise Mataariki, the Mother star herself, surrounded by her tamariki which are expressed through the classic whetu symbols. These whetu are also shown suspended above the maunga, further reinforcing how the Maunga uplift us to the heavens, and are portals to our tūpuna.

Kaiya also chose Koru from TCG at for the base, which was the perfect backdrop for a little bit of sparkle without being too over the top.

I always love the creative part of an appointment where we start with an idea and slowly piece everything together until it feels just right. 👀

📍 Where to Find Bare Beauty

If you’re visiting for the first time, I’ve included photos and a walk-through video in this carousel to make finding the studio as easy as possible.

You’ll find Bare Beauty inside Build A Body Gym:

📍 Unit 15, 5 Wakefield Street, Alicetown, Lower Hutt

When you arrive:
✨ Enter through the main gym entrance
✨ Head upstairs
✨ My studio is through the door on the right near reception

🚗 Parking is available on site. Please do not park in front of the lower-level roller door, as the landlord requires access to this area at all times.

🚆 Travelling by public transport? The studio is located close to Ava Train Station and nearby bus routes servicing Lower Hutt and Alicetown.

🚻 Bathroom facilities are available on site for client use.

Please note that the studio is accessible by stairs, but I do have access to help you through via the ramp and gym. Please contact me if you need help getting up the ramp to me.

I’m a busy mum of three with over 10 years of experience in the beauty industry. What I love most about this industry is that there’s always something new to learn. Continued education is something I’m incredibly passionate about, not only to improve my own skills but to help raise the standard of our industry as a whole through sharing knowledge and supporting others to grow.

When I’m not in the salon, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, reading on my Kindle, watching true crime documentaries, or falling down a rabbit hole learning about my latest interest.

Had the gorgeous in my chair last week. ✨

We spent a good amount of time procrastinating between soft spring cutie nails or fall animal print baddie nails… but let’s be real, Tash was always going to choose the baddie set. 😂

I also custom blended the base shade for this set because we couldn’t quite find the exact colour we wanted, which honestly made the final look even better. 👀

I feel like pattern nails are having a moment again and I’m kind of here for it.

Mental Health Awareness Week 🤍

This industry is beautiful, creative, rewarding… but it can also be incredibly heavy sometimes.

As nail techs, we spend our days taking care of other people. Holding conversations. Making others feel confident. Showing up smiling even when life behind the scenes feels overwhelming.

I know firsthand how hard that can be.

I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, burnout, and the mental exhaustion that can come from constantly pouring into everyone else while quietly running on empty yourself. When your job revolves around caring for others, it can be really easy to forget to care for you too.

Burnout is real.
Overthinking is real.
The pressure to always be “on” is real.

And you are not weak for feeling it.

You deserve rest.
You deserve support.
You deserve kindness from yourself too.

Earlier this month I headed up to Hamilton for the Nail Central Expo and had the best time. ✨

A full day of beautiful displays, new products, and way too many things tempting me to spend money. 😂

One thing I completely fell in love with was the Nail Thoughts Builder Base Gels, so of course I had to bring a few shades home with me - Honey Tea (peachy n**e), Baby Cakes (soft pink) & Milky. They level beautifully and are slightly sheer.

I picked up three gorgeous colours and I can’t wait to try them on your nails soon.
