🏔️ Sits in the Mackenzie Basin, ringed by snowcapped mountains
🎣 Known for trout fishing, no motorboats allowed, rowing only
❄️ Stunning in winter, glassy reflections, bare trees, quiet and still
🌌 Dark Sky Reserve, incredible for stargazing at night
🦢 Look out for black swans and other birdlife
⛺ Basic campground nearby, no shops in the village, stock up in Tekapo first
🥾 Walk up the 4WD track near the car park for the best lake views
