Happy Father’s Day to the man who helped shape not only the woman I am, but the hairdresser I became. ❤️

Hairdressing has always been more than a job to me. It’s part of my story - and so much of that story began with my Papa.

Growing up with a father who was a hairdresser meant I was introduced to this wonderful industry from a very young age. I watched his creativity, his skill, the way he connected with people and the pride he took in his work. I spent time in his salons, learnt from him, worked alongside him and, without really knowing it at the time, those experiences were helping shape my own future.

He taught me that hairdressing isn’t simply about cutting or colouring hair. It’s about people. It’s about listening, making someone feel good about themselves, having a laugh, sharing stories and creating a space where people feel welcome.

Years later, I now stand behind the chair in my own salon, Saskia & Co, and I realise just how much of my Papa has come with me.

The confidence to take a chance.
The work ethic.
The creativity.
The love of our craft.
And perhaps most importantly, the genuine love of people.

Building Saskia & Co from the ground up has been one of the proudest chapters of my life, and there is something incredibly special about knowing that the career my father introduced me to all those years ago has become such a huge part of who I am today.

Papa, you are my father, my friend, my teacher and such an important part of the woman I have become.

Thank you for the lessons, the inspiration and for passing on a love of hairdressing that I now get to carry on in a salon of my own.

Happy Father’s Day, Papa.
