We started hair and makeup at 4:00 AM and wrapped up at 2:00 PM—10 hours straight, no breaks to prepare almost 40 girls. We finished on time.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Joebert Mendoza Hingco Jr. Head Choreographer, Ar J Ay Hairstylist, Arold Rap Obsioma, some teachers of MNHS and the rest of the Talindak dancers. Thank you for assisting me.

I started exploring makeup back in Grade 8 from marker-like brows to completely unmatched foundation. That phase wasn’t easy. It was also when I started getting bullied. Some of my classmates and schoolmates (mostly guys) would call me “makeup face” or say I was “nilamon ng makeup.”

But I didn’t stop. I kept going because that’s where I found my confidence. I would even play football wearing full makeup and doll-eye contact lenses (my teammates can prove that).

Eventually, things shifted. Some classmates, schoolmates, and even teachers started asking me to do their makeup during high school. Fast forward to today, I’m now a freelance makeup artist. Lahat ng pang-aasar na yun, nagbunga. Now I earn from what I love. And yes, one of the people who bullied me before… I ended up doing his mother’s makeup. Funny, but also a full-circle moment.

Now, it’s my turn to give back to the school where I learned and grew so much.

This is my 2nd year as the official makeup artist of Talindak Dance Troupe , competing in the Antipolo Maytime Festival 2026 this coming May 2. Please support them!
