𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | UP High Gathers Parents, Teachers, and Students for Annual PTA General Assembly

Parents, teachers, and students fully packed the Community Center as UP High School Cebu held its annual PTA General Assembly on September 17, 2026.

The event, emceed by Sir Aurelio Vilbar and Elijah Heramis, kicked off with an invocation led by the Glee Club, followed by the singing of the national anthem.

Principal Sir Kim Bondoc took the stage and welcomed the staff, students, parents, and incoming PTA officers. He then emphasized that UP High does not only aim to produce high-achieving students, but also critical thinkers and people who are morally responsible. He also encouraged parents and teachers to cooperate and set good examples for children before ending his speech by quoting the words of SC President Yvette Sumampong, urging everyone to make the school year worth remembering in a positive way.

The event moved on with the first raffle draw segment. Parents and students were called up front to receive their prizes, either 5-kg bags of rice or food court vouchers. All elected PTA officers then stepped on stage, while the homeroom PTA officers stood up, as the induction of officers followed. They then took an oath to serve the UP High community with a dedicated spirit.

PTA Auditor Mrs. Thejai Padios then took the stage and presented a transparency report on Academic Year 2025-2026’s expenses and income. Following this, the second raffle segment began.

To follow, PTA Vice President Jose Tan presented the PTA’s accomplishments, highlighting last year’s Family Day, which he showed a short video of. PTA President Sir Tristan Arvin Jain then took the stage to discuss the PTA’s future programs. To conclude the first half of the program, dinner was served.

The second half of the night opened with an open forum. Concerns about school facilities and issues like bullying were raised and addressed by PTA officers, together with Sir Kim. An intermission number was then presented by alumni dancers Andrew and Faith.

The third raffle draw segment then began. This was followed by the PTA singing competition, which was participated in by teachers and parents.

The “PTA IDOL” singing competition began with the first batch of competitors, representatives from Grades 12, 11, and 9. The fourth raffle draw segment was then held, followed by an intermission number from Marion Louise Busano and Marilou Gozo Busano.

The second batch of representatives from Grades 8, 10, and 7 then gave their performances before the final raffle draw, where George Eliot won the grand prize of a Samsung tablet. The awarding of “PTA IDOL” followed, with Grade 10 taking first place, Grade 11 second, and Grade 8 third. Grade 7 placed fourth, while Grades 12 and 9 tied for fifth place.

To wrap up the event, Sir Jain delivered the closing remarks, thanking everyone for their support and participation. A same-day edit made by the UP Tambuli was then shown, followed by the singing of UP Naming Mahal.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗘 | UP High Cebu officially appointed electees to their posts for S.Y. 2026-2027

A new batch of student and school leaders officially took on their responsibilities as UP High Cebu held its Induction Ceremony at the Community Center for newly appointed Homeroom, Club, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the new Student Council Officers on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The ceremony started with the invocation, followed by the school's principal, Sir Kim P. Bondoc's welcome speech, marking the formal beginning of the program as the officers took their oaths and pledged to serve their respective classes, organizations, and the wider school community.

With their new positions come new responsibilities, as these leaders begin their term with the commitment to serve, represent, and lead the school community.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗘 | National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill Took UPHS by Surprise

Students in the University of the Philippines High School Cebu were taken by surprise as sirens rang for a National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, held on September 10, 2026. The sirens started ringing at around 9:15 A.M., while students were attending their second period of classes, and they proceeded to the open court after the siren's ringing.

The National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill was intentionally not disseminated to the students, to teach them how to act in case of an actual earthquake. It was also scheduled on September 10 because students are not present in their schools for the past few days due to the ongoing haze.

Several rings of sirens were still heard even while students are already in the open field, but roll calls and attendance were also conducted to make sure every student was present.

After the earthquake drill, classes resumed for UP High at around 9:30 A.M.

𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | UPHS Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kicks Off

Brigada Eskwela officially started for the University of the Philippines High School Cebu with all grade levels coming together to clean and prepare areas of the campus for academic activities on August 13, 2026.

Brigada Eskwela is a yearly program by the Department of Education Philippines before the official start of school that uses the old Filipino tradition of Bayanihan, which means neighbors helping each other out in hard activities.

Aside from their respective classrooms, the Grade 7 to 12 were assigned to different areas in the school, from the catwalk to the canteen.

“Today was a good experience, because I saw many people coming together to clean UP High,” an 8th grader, Theriz Reyes, stated mid-program.

The program ended at 4 o’ clock PM, after everyone worked together to help prepare the school and make it ready for the new academic year.
