Throwback Thursday…

This was loss of distal hand after road traffic accident . That distal part of hand was so crushed that we were not able to attend for replantation. So , after removing all dead tissue , I covered it with skin and fascia of that patient’s groin region .

Groin flap was remained attached for 4 weeks later detached in local anasthesia. There are also other flaps option in such case but it was based on that individual.

It is necessary to cover exposed bone with vascularised flap otherwise bone gets infection and later it would need to cut hand further.

It’s wiser decision to see your board certified plastic surgeon for hand injuries.

Hand and upper limb is such a complex and functionally entity . Please don’t take that for granted

Precautionary measures are always better than cure please mind your safety at workplace and other.
