This is something I see quite often in the studio, and many people mistake it for a spot or a clogged pore.

✨️ It’s called sebaceous hyperplasia

It usually appears as small raised bumps on the skin, either skin-coloured, slightly yellowish or even rosy often with a small dip or “tiny hole” in the centre.

It happens when the sebaceous glands become enlarged, and it’s more common in areas such as the forehead, nose and cheeks.

It’s generally a benign condition, becomes more common with age, and sun exposure may also contribute to its development.

When it becomes an aesthetic concern, there are different treatment options, including certain types of laser, specific chemical treatments, electrodessication or electrocautery.

📚 It’s also important to understand that, even after treatment, they can come back or new lesions can appear over time.

Retinoids may also be part of the approach in some cases.

🧐 And because other skin changes can sometimes look similar, it’s always important to confirm exactly what we’re dealing with before treating it.

Crioterapia enquanto o LED está a atuar.

Mas não está ali apenas porque sabe bem.

Cryotherapy while the LED is working.

But it isn't there just because it feels good.

Not all LED lights are the same. In photobiomodulation, one of the key factors is the wavelength, (nm) and different wavelengths interact with the skin differely.

The device I use works with:

🔵 415 nm — Blue Light
Particularly useful for acne-prone and inflammatory skin

🔴 630 nm — Red Light
Supports cellular processes involved in repair and collagen production, making it valuable for rejuvenation, fine lines and skin recovery.

〰️ 850 nm — Near-Infrared
Reaches deeper than visible red light and complements skin recovery and rejuvenation protocols.

During this stage, I also incorporate controlled cryotherapy, helping to calm and refresh the skin while reducing the sensation of heat. 🧊

Because good technology isn't simply about having a machine with lights, it's about understanding what we're actually delivering to the skin. 🤍
