How to avoid coming back from vacation with hair that feels like straw?
🏖️ Checklist: Protecting your hair from ocean salt, sun, and pool chlorine 👉
1️⃣ A bottle of fresh waterWhy: Soak your hair thoroughly before getting into the water. Dry hair acts like a sponge — it instantly absorbs salty or chlorinated water. If it is already saturated with fresh water, there will be much less room for salt and chlorine to pe*****te.
2️⃣ Leave-in cream or spray with SPFWhy: It protects your hair pigment from fading and prevents the structure from being damaged by UV rays.
3️⃣ Headwear (hat, bucket hat, or cap)Why: The best physical shield from the sun. UV rays destroy keratin, making hair brittle and dull. It also protects your scalp from sunburn.
4️⃣ Beach hair oil (with silicones)Why: It creates a water-repellent film. Salty water will just slide off without penetrating the hair shaft.
5️⃣ Silk scrunchie or a claw clipWhy: Put your hair up in a high bun. Metal hairpins heat up in the sun and burn your hair, while tight elastics tear wet strands.
6️⃣ Rinse immediately after swimmingWhy: As soon as you get out of the water, rinse your hair with fresh water. Do not let the salt dry in the sun and eat away at your hair cuticle.
