This isn’t just about hair. It’s about connection.

Recently, we took For Dads Who Can’t Braid (Yet) into HMP Brixton for our 3rd week, giving fathers the opportunity to learn practical hair care and braiding skills for their little ones and this might have been one of our most powerful sessions yet 🥹

Beyond the techniques, this was about reminding the men that despite past decisions, they are still fathers and there are new, positive ways to show up and connect with their children.

From first attempts to finished braids, the room was full of focus, brotherhood and quiet pride.

Participants described it as therapeutic and motivating, and many shared that programs like this should be a regular part of prison life.

This wasn’t just a braiding lesson, it was about connection, confidence and proving that your past doesn’t define your future 🩷
