South Sudanese software engineer builds online classifieds marketplace for South Sudan

South Sudanese software engineer Joe Mabor Agany, based in Germany, has built Junub Classifieds (junubclassifieds.com), an online marketplace designed to help South Sudanese people and businesses buy, sell and connect.

The platform allows users to post free advertisements for goods, electronics, vehicles, real estate and other items. Employers can advertise job vacancies or search through a pool of CVs from job seekers, while a built-in business directory helps local businesses gain visibility. Buyers and sellers can also communicate directly through the platform’s integrated chat feature to complete transactions.

Unlike generic platforms adapted for the region, Junub Classifieds was built from the ground up with South Sudan’s unique needs and digital infrastructure in mind. Developed over the course of a year as a passion project, the platform aims to empower South Sudanese businesses to expand their online presence.

Joe currently works as a Software Development Team Leader in Germany, where he designs and develops medical decision support systems to improve healthcare across Germany and Europe.
