When a "knot" is found during your session, we will use lots of different techniques to help that muscle tension release, including trigger point therapy! Many times this means putting pressure directly on the "knot" using fingers, hands, or elbows. This is called ischemic compression.

So, what does this do? It is almost like turning things off and back on again. It forces blood, interstitial fluid, and tension away from the area. When released, all of it flows back in almost like a wave upon rock which helps to breakup those adhesions and wash them away. Your body will then filter through it all and flush out the things it no longer needs. This is why we tell you to drink lots of water after a session!
