Reactions can happen, even when you're working with products you've used before and clients you've treated many times.

Today, my client's skin started reacting during the cleansing step even though I hadn't used anything different than her previous facials.

After concluding the steam towels were likely the culprit, we mixed her a calming blend of glycerin, chamomile hydrosol and aloe.

By the end of the facial, her redness had settled and she was not only back to her baseline, but loved how her skin felt post mask.

A reaction doesn't automatically mean we need to stop the facial. Sometimes skin is simply communicating, "hey, I don't like that."

As estheticians, our job is to understand the skin in front of us, adapt when needed, and know how to support it.

I'm sharing this because I think it's important to see the real moments and not just the perfectly edited ones. They're often where the best learning happens.

Custom facials are my absolute favorite. I am able to see what my client's skin needs in that moment and give them exactly that.

I'm not a protocol type of gal (although protocols absolutely have their place).

I don't believe every person should receive the exact same treatment just because they share a skin concern.

Unique skin = unique approach

Skin has pores. Skin has texture. Skin has tiny hairs. Skin folds when we smile, laugh, and raise our eyebrows.

None of those things are flaws. They're signs that your skin is doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

Social media has made "normal" look abnormal, especially when we're constantly looking at filtered faces and perfect lighting.

So here's your reminder:

You do not need to erase every part of your face to have beautiful skin.

Skincare doesn't have to be science or nature.

The best treatments happen when actives and botanical ingredients work together. When each ingredient is chosen with intention and serve a purpose.

Healthy skin isn't about picking a side. It's about using the right ingredients for the right reasons. 🌿
