Healthy skin isn't created by a jar.

That may sound like an unusual thing for the founder of a skincare company to say.

But I believe it.

What we put on our skin matters. A thoughtfully formulated product can support hydration, help maintain the skin barrier, provide comfort and address particular skin concerns.

But skin doesn't exist independently from the rest of us.

Nutrition matters. Hydration matters. Sleep matters. Hormonal changes, medications, stress, environmental exposure and, of course, age can all affect how our skin looks, feels and functions.

That's one reason I prefer the term healthy aging to anti-aging.

Aging isn't a skin condition to be cured.

Our skin changes throughout our lives, and good skincare should recognize those changes and support the skin rather than promise to turn back a clock that isn't meant to run backward.

At La Domestique LLC, that's increasingly how I think about skincare: from both the outside in and the inside out.
